I guess that would serve for a 357 mag power level...13 grains of Red Dot, but I really seek to get in the 35 Rem zone with cast. This may be accomplished with a charge of H4895 in the thirties with a 200 grainer. Question is, what will accuracy be...

Some of Ohio is flat--the northern half. The Southern half can be nearly as rugged as WV or KY, where pretty much any cartridge goes.

The current Ruger No1s in 35 Whelen have a 1:12 twist, which seems like reasonable and versatile twist rate. Do older No1s have the same Twist? What are the throats like one these? Has anybody worked with a No1 in Whelen with reduced loads in...

I saw that thing on Ebay recently Wish it were in 410. Does it have a way to resize the base?

My father in law has the 47th Lyman handbook...apparently has the same data!

I get around 50 fps faster with a CCI 550 vs 500 using the same charge and bullet, even with Alliant 2400. With Win 296 and Lil'Gun even greater differences.

Wow...thanks. I was going to go with 13.5 as a max just instinct, but that makes me feel a lot better. Did Lyman happen to use a magnum primer? The OAL when crimped in the groove is 1.635 This happens to fit revolvers with a .375 long...

Wait....you walk around with a hammer levergun cocked, chambered, and no manual safety applied? I have a tube loading lever rifle, a marlin 39, it is ok for 22, which is dinky. But all the other lever guns I have feature loading gates. Much...

I'm finding pretty confusing data out there for the 358429 in 357 mag revolver. I see that Taffin did tests with a Blackhawk in 2003 and it was printed. This data seems sensible to me, but it doesn't say what primer was used. I'm in the habit...

That's my conclusion...that or not being crimped allowed to bullet to fly forward with the primer instead of corking up the little gun long enough to get lit.

Nice wood, and I am glad to see a quality alternative to the H&R rifles is out there (well, besides the Contender/Encore), but why can't we get past the HAMMER? Seriously. Why didn't they use and internal hammer and a sliding tang safety, so it...

Has anyone pushed their 375 Win Ruger#3 or Contender/Encore (RIFLE) to the max? I mean seating heavies out far and stuffing as much powder as will fit in there? If you have, what kind of velocities were observed?

Ruger no1 are really expensive for what they are. I think pricing is driven by collectors rather than shooters. Most of the ones you find for sale have never been shot. It's a pity, because for the left-handed-shooter they are great, and with 45-70...

I am trying to find some sort of consensus on what is an adequate minimal cast boolit performance profile for Elk under 200 yards. I am open to caliber, but I would assume that .308 would be a practical minimum. This said, it's probably best...

I want to update some info I have learned about Lil'Gun. It is actually more effecient with lower charges in 357 Max. I was using 24 grains to push a 180 grain XTP (yes, I still use jacketed for deer, as I have never worked with hollow point...

I have found the problem with barrel contact not so much one of making it impossible to get truly fine benchrest accuracy. That is not my goal. My goal is absolutely consistent first shot cold-barrel accuracy, the kind you need when you hunt deer....
