For adjustable nose sizing use a Lyman luber and a flat punch and size nose first, adjust depth like you would if sizing base first.

The RCBS PRO-Melt is kinda the standard, unless you want to save money and get a drip-o-matic.

I've seen many Stars that were automated, prolly the only unit worth doing it to, as it is smooth, precise and lubes at the same time.

This is further to some pellet testing of these cast pellets. First off, I have been casting for ever, including commercially. I have not gotten good accuracy with the cast pellets, certainly not up to the JSB pellets that both guns like. I weighed...

It takes me about the same amount of time to change dies on a Star as it does on the Lyman and I always worry about stripping those fine threads on the Lyman.

I have 2 Lymans, 2 Rcbs, and 3 Stars, and use the Star whenever I can, I just don't have all the sizes of dies for them, If I did, I would sell the others right away.

Most HP copies of the Lyman 457122 have a much larger hollow point but I like the original, it is very accurate.

The 300 gr. RCBS gc boolits were undersized and not accurate in my Marlin '95 or my C. Sharps with Badger barrel, the Lyman Gould was/is much better and is just a bit bigger.

Get a luber, some SPG, and test some heavier bullets for anything over 200 yds, you'll want to try some longer shots once you hit at 200 or more. You can also experiment with paper patching and duplex loading to reduce fouling. With your reloading...

The reason that the Carcano rd. is not more popular for your use is that it is not new enough and has not been hyped enough in the gun rags and has not been factory loaded with heat resistant tipped bullets that cost $3/ea.

My results are dif., the 311284 is one of the most accurate .30 cal. Boolit that I use, much more so than the 311299, don't worry about seating a gc boolit deeper than the case neck, when the boolit base gets hit by 40,000 or so PSI the check won't...

In this case the mold has been cut wrong, the shank should fit std. gas checks, some Lees fit some don't, you pays your money and take your chances.

The most accurate cast boolit in my heavy barrel .308 is the Lyman #311332 at around 185gr., followed by Saeco #315 at around 175grs., the Saeco is a tapered design similar to some of D. Eagan's designs and can be seated well into the rifling. I...

For cals. that rely on bullet dia., frontal width, and bullet weight, cast bullets have it all over jacketed. For high vel. long range shooting, jacketed are usually used but I am not that kind of hunter as I am concerned about wounding game.

That is intentional, for firing off unknown primers so that those cases can be reloaded again.

Lots of creative ballistics here, stand the cartridges beside each other, the .357, the .35 rem, the 30/30, and you'll see what I mean. I have nothing against the .357 for deer but it is illegal for use here in a rifle or handgun for deer or any...

There's not a lot of .459" pistol bullets out there...….Lyman's Gould hollow point is the deer bullet, bar none.

MT Chambers replied to a thread Wads in Casting for Shotguns
If you don't match cases to wads you can end up with powder migrating up beside the wad and some very poor sounding shots, don't substitute, your not saving money as most wads are inexpensive. As someone else mentioned you need to have the right...
