Well, after getting the new scope sighted in, the barrel was pretty warm, not searing, but definitely warm. Best I could do with 12.5 grains of red dot was about 3/4 inch at 25yds. I loaded them at 3.069 oal and a few of them had hard bolt closure....

True, for sure. 380, 9mm, 38 special, 357 Mag, plus rifle calibers. Necksized, trimmed, chamfered, demurred, and expanded case mouths on 50 270 cases tonight. Tomorrow after work, tumble them and load them. Mounted the new scope on the M70 too. Just...

There are a lot more choices out there than I originally thought. I couldn't imagine starting out in 30 caliber. I'd drive myself nuts trying to pick molds.

While not "old", my grandpa was gifted a Savage Cricket that was a little worse for wear. I took it home, stripped the crinkle finish, polished the rust spots and refinished it. Came with a nice set of peep sights and the bore was pretty good. He's...

I like the look of the first one, a Loverin copy. I also like the last two, but there is no provision for a gas check. Im not a powder coater and do not have enough room right now to get into it. I do want to try it at some point tho. I looked at...

Lots of AR casters on here, but from what I've seen its mainly 5.56. If I were gonna cast for 308, I would go to NOE and look at Ranch Dog Tumble Lube molds and use powder coat. Next, I would go to Accurate and look at their slick sided molds for...

How does the barrel look? Are the primers flattened or rounded? If they push through your cylinder with just light resistance, id say you were good to go.

I have a newer model Savage, a B22 FVSR in 22 LR. Much better stock over the MarkII, coned breech, feeds from rotary mag, picatinny optic rail, threaded muzzle, accutrigger, bull barrel. I added an Apachee trigger kit. It shoots less than half inch...

I wonder if an RG mold might make some sense. You could shape then ends of the pins anyway you wanted. Still difficult but would add a degree of changeability. If the flares were a little thicker and cast of WW, I think the flares wouldn't bend to...

The mold halves would have to be along the axis lines of the nose directly in line with the 4 corners of the nose shape. If the lead was hard enough, I don't think the nose would deform, at least not enough to matter. The problem in my eyes is the...

I have a Lyman 4500 and a Star. The Star is hands down awesome. Nothing else like it that lubes, sizes, and automatically drops boolits out of the die. Boolits are handled once. Drawback is it will deform point nosed boolits on the nose. The 4500 is...

RC, isn't the RCBS mold 150? Thats the only one above 135 that I've seen without stepping to a 7mm design. It seems theres more molds available for 280Rem/7mm Rem Mag than for 270 and I'd argue the 270 is more popular.

I don't have a powder suggestion, just a powder characteristic thought. The DPMS is a gas impingement system, right? If so, I might research a powder that is a gas producer to fully operate the bolt. Also, to insure chambering in the AR rifle, you...

My Lyman .278 h&I die was only 2765. I got it opened up to 279, but stopped as there is a little bit of lube getting by the pushrod. The slug measured .277 so I tried 279. I can open up the die a little more but not before I get a heater! That hard...

The sizing die does not shave the boolit down, it squeezes it into a thinner longer shape. There is no way around this unless you shoot the boolits unsized. If your casting and coating is very precise, this should not be a problem as most of the...
