Lyman's 4th edition Cast Bullet Handbook shows a starting load of 16.5 grains of IMR-4227 and a MAX load of 22 grains. This is for a 170 grain cast bullet. The Lyman 49th Reloading Handbook shows a starting load of 24.5 grains of IMR Flavored 4895,...

If your Lee mould is a 6 cavity make sure you don't hold the sprue plate handle when filling. Doing so can pivot the bottom of the blocks open....that's how you get variable sized bullets like the .455 ones. Only hold the mould handles. Also,...

Thanks Hiwall. I'm researching if any or much difference between the 40/60 Maynard and what is called the 40 Krag. The work will be done by JES so if no real difference I'll just fire form the cases in the new cut chamber. I thank you for the...

With a Lee 158 TL cast SWC bullet which seats pretty deeply at the 1st lube groove 5 gr of Green Dot is well within +P pressures. 4.5 gr is a top end standard 39 SPL load.

Standard 45 ACP dies with a 45 Colt shell holder should be the correct dies. The "45 Special" is for use in SAs with a 45 ACP cylinder for use in SASS (CAS) matches. SASS rules require a rimed cartridge. Also, with light loads and even 45 ACP...

The cartridge was a common conversion years ago to clean up over sized jap 6.5 chambers or to simplify brass availability. It is simply the 6.5x57 cartridge. Very similar in ballistics and case capacity to the 6.5x55 Swede of which load data for...

Stay safe over there. I know what it's like having a wildfire close by. Last summer a fire rained burning embers onto my roof and in my yard. Very scary stuff for sure.

Nice rifle Ken, I think you are going to enjoy it. I shoot the RCBS 30-165 SIL in mine with the aforementioned 18.5 gr of 2400. For plinking I use the LEE TL314-90 sized to .311 and loaded over 3.2 grains of Bullseye.

That is a top end 9mm load and ok but I suggest working up to it in your pistol. I use 7.0 gr Herco under a 115 gr Gold Dot for a +P load in my CZ75. Runs 1350 fps. I got the load back in '89 from a "Taffin Tests" article in the Handloader...

Not an 'A3 but a DHT '03 I built into a pseudo M1903A3 National Match Type II. I put a new (in wrapper and cosmoline) RA 4 groove barrel on it. Has a Lyman long slide receiver sight with 1/4 moa and Lyman aperture front sight. It really likes the...

Only if the conversion was sloppily done. With correctly center flash holes I've loaded some converted 7.62x54R and 303 cases several times with top end loads of 4895 under 150 gr Hornady .312 bullets.

A small grinder (used for sharpening chainsaws) in a Dremel will fit down inside the rear sight to the left and right of the aperture (cranked to the left or right) to grind away a bit of the riveted part of the receiver staking the rear sight in...
