Never cast any with COWW/lead at 50/50. With lino mine run 265 gr fully dressed and with COWW + 2% tin they run 273 gr fully dressed. This is mostly the alloy I use. They drop at .377 - .378. I size at .377 in a Lyman 450 with H&I die. I would...

I use the Lyman 375449 which is a FP in my three six bits (M70). Over 36 gr AA5744 it runs 1850 fps and would be just the ticket for what you want for deer or pigs there in Texas. Over 46 gr 4895 with a Dacron filler it runs 2200 fps for a better...

Currently tin runs around $15 per pound but it can be had cheaper by finding pewter and solder at yard sales, antique shops, etc. One pound of tin at 2% will do 50 pounds of COWWs. Fifty one pounds of alloy makes a lot of bullets. Even at $15 a...

Cosmic Charlie, it's a good thing that your mold is throwing a tad oversized rather than undersized! Sizing to .358 will be no problem, and when you size you are getting a more consistent boolit. A tip: When you are using a Lee 6 cavity mold it's...

I cast outside at temps way below freezing with my Promelt with no issues. There is probably a temp limit, but you'll never see it living in Alabama. Antarctica maybe? I just layer up, and keep my molds heated on a hot plate.
