It is my experience that the Lyman listed weights with the specified alloy is "as cast"....without GC or lube. My 375449 mould gives weights with #2 alloy at 265 gr.....one gr over what Lyman says with their #2 alloy......close enough for...

I guess some things are just hard to improve on. I think I'll just stick with the load I have. Thanks for all the input.

I'm looking to see if anyone has data for any "newer" powders for this boolit in the 45 Auto Rim. I have been using 6.8 gr Unique with pretty decent results. Finding data for any of the newer powders (ie Power Pistol, etc.) has been a little scarce....

Personally, I wouldn't use it. Iv'e done it before too, so don't feel bad! I always err on the side of caution, I disposed of it when it happened to me. The lesson for me was to just try and make sure the measure is empty before adding a new powder.

I squirreled away, some time back, some Winchester 190 Silver Tips (intended for the 303 Savage). They are .308 diameter. I plan on using them in my 24" M94 30-30 over LeveRevolution powder.....just haven't got around to developing the load...

If it is being caused by burrs on the mold, a q-tip is useful to find them. It will catch and pull strands. Also, yes you should get a thermometer! Each mold will usually have a sweet spot with temperature, and the boolits will just fall out upon...

I also use the beeswax and bore butter mix, adjusting to the temperature. I use STP (sparingly) on the cylinder pin of my ROA. It doesn't seem to be affected by fouling and remains slick as a whistle after many cylinder loads.

Sometimes a new mold just needs to be broken in. You didn't mention your alloy temp, but you might want to go around 725* or so.. Get yourself a wooden hammer handle or something similar, and give a light tap on the mold handle hinge bolt head. See...

Checked a uberti twist rate chart that states the 45 colt at .442-.450 with a 1 in 16 twist for there rifles. Suggest you actually measure the twist. Many early rifles had slower twists. Could be with the low end velocities and heavier bullets...

Pressures are measured with special equipment and test guns. It is expensive. Even with factory measured pressures there is no guarantee that, even if using the exact same components, you will get the same psi in your gun. It may be lower...

When I ordered my RCBS Lam II, I ordered a heater with it. I think I only used it a few times. The last time I used the heater, I forgot to unplug it. The lube melted out all over the carpet in my man cave... I thought my wife was going to kill me....
