I'd look for one of the old Winchester single shots.

I've not experimented with powder coat in cold weather, but I do know other lubes act different in cold conditions. Loads need worked up for the temperature difference.

Hickok replied to a thread Marlin 1894 in 45 colt in Leverguns
Had a JM Marlin Cowboy with octagon barrel in 45 Colt. Fired cases came out bulged due to too large of a chamber. Looked like pregnant guppies. Sent it back to Marlin, came back with a new barrel.....same thing, bulged cases. Not heavy loads...

I would melt one down and check the temperature it melts. That should give you a reasonable idea, and maybe cast and weigh a few bullets. I have one that is so hard, I've just used it as a door stop in the shop for years.

waksupi replied to a thread Elk hunting with 8mm in Cast Boolits
The 8mm is the incestuous little brother of the .358 win, and is one of the best cast bullet chamberings for North American hunting. I like the 220-230 weight. Drop me a pm to remind me, I may have a heavy mold I could part with.

Jmorris, most of my loading is done 50 rounds at a time with a lot of caliber changes and swapping out the Dillon shell plates takes a little time. Not a lot of time, but more than just adding the right shell holder and priming rod. Another thing...

Cloverdale, the Shield 45 is my favorite carry gun. I added the Apex Duty Trigger kit and will get a roundtoit on night sights soon. I bounce around on loads but have several favorites. The RCBS 45-230 CM is the one mould I wouldn’t give up,...

I called RCBS this morning and they have replacement parts for mine on the way, to include an upgrade to both the small and large primer rods. I also ordered the bench mounted system from Amazon. Told the RCBS guy my hand primer was just worn out...

Thanks for the responses, and I'll try to follow all of the excellent advice. I knew RCBS would fix the old one, and I am looking at the universal hand tool for small lots of brass. But, my wife just told me she would get me the bench mounted...

I have been using the RCBS hand primer for many years and think I have finally worn it out. Primed some 44 Specials today and couldn’t get the primers seated deeply enough to keep cases from dragging when the cylinder rotated. I seated them more...

Nice. Many of the high quality horns were made by black craftsmen.

waksupi replied to a thread Size before PC in Cast Boolits
I install gas checks and size before powder coat, and then may size them again afterwards, depending on the gun. If you are water quenching bullets, they may be harder than you want to run through a lubrisizer if you wait more than a day.

I get 2170 fps with a 290 gr. That's pushing past any factory loadings for power.

I am also watching. I have a 16 inch Rossi 357 with a Leupold Red Dot sight. Working on loads for it and think the MP 159 grain may be a favorite. The rifle does not like the Lee 358-158 FN. Tony

I have one of the four inch M624 44 Magnums that samari46 mentioned in his post. There is a very large warning in my inventory book that the pistol is NEVER to be sent back to S&W for anything! Tony

Another vote for the 44-250K and 7.5 grains Unique. If that load won't do it you need a 30-06. Tony

I bought the first Whelen I found in a 7600. A few months later I found a 700 CDL (I think?) at Cabela's in PA. No plans for either to go anywhere. Tony
