Ive used hedge apple for several pistol grips. It is extremely hard and durable. However the yellow color always turns brown in a couple years. Under the grips where it never sees sunlight it stays yellow. Ive only used oil type finishes on it. I...

Even though hard on powder it would still be a lot of fun. The concealable version could shoot hedge apples.

I use the 311008 as cast at .312 with one coat of LLA and 5 gr of clays. Ive not tried them in 30-06 but shot lots in 30-30 and 30-40 They run 1200/1100 respectively and hit close enough to poa when lined up for deer loads. It may not be legal to...

Wolfer replied to a thread 14" twist in 45-70?? in Cast Boolits
Upon further study it appears the 14" twist should be ok for my purposes. Running the lee 340 or 405 or maybe the Gould boolit to 1200 fps or thereabouts with smokeless in a 67/89 rolling block. I'm quite confident I can take a deer with these...

Green mtn has some .458 barrels with 14" twist that are not too bad priced. I'm wanting to build 4 Swedish rolling blocks into 45-70. I won't be shooting anything heavier than 405 gr and at trapdoor speeds. Is this too fast a twist? I would prefer...

The reason I need another tractor and the reason I don't put a spark arrester is because my tractor isn't big enough. My round baler requires a 40 hp min on the pto. My Massey put out slightly more than 40 hp when it was new in 58. I have a fixed...

A 3" shell will chamber in a 2-3/4" chamber. There's just nowhere for the crimp to go when you fire it.

I don't have a barn to put them in but if I did they would set out a few days first. This one had been dumped 45 min or more before I seen it start smoking. Last year I saw a spark go in the baler which started smoking but I got it dumped. Hay was...

My old Massey Ferguson 65 model of 1958 is notorious for throwing sparks. Most of them were. Ive got to get another tractor.

I have an old lathe and love to tinker so I built me some dies to use the belted magnum cases. Once fireformed I just neck size. My thoughts was I could buy a barrel blank cheaper than dies. Green mtn has a 27" .458 blank for $110 or thereabouts....

Like 17 nut I use belted magnum cases. I have a lathe but it's a 4 jaw chuck so I put them in my drill press and use a file to remove the belt. My cases have been fired several times and are too big at the back. I made a die that I drive them into...

I made a block that I soldered to the barrel up against the tulip. Drilled/tapped it for an H&R muzzleloader base turned backwards. I also filed a dovetail in it for peep type sight I got from brownells. I plan on replacing the front sight with a...
