Like Jim B I usually try to chuck in a drill and spin while I'm grinding. A carriage head bolt and valve grinding compound is what I used to cut a crown in sawn off rifle barrels before I got a lathe. I still would if I didn't want to pull the...

What is the simplest way to fix the extractor when you go from say 20 gauge to 38 special?

I live out in the country and shoot in the yard a lot. I have lots of trouble with coons and possums in my chickens. I have a homemade box trap that I set in the barn where the dogs can't get to it. I don't want to shoot through the trap so I go...

Since this was not a cast kill I probably shouldn't post it. Called him in just before dark tonight. 223 with a 55 gr Remington soft point on a full case of varget. I don't weigh it, just fill the case full and seat a bullet on it.

Not 44 but Ive killed several deer with a 45 colt at 950/1050 fps and different 250/255 boolit. Certainly enough to form an opinion. It seems to me it's more like bow hunting. The big boolit obviously hit hard but without any real shock. They have...

When I was a kid my great grandpa used to tell me lots of hunting stories from back in the day. He was born in 1898 to give you an idea of when that day was. He started young and stayed late but by the time I came around his knees wouldn't let him...

I use # 5 rebar as the handle thru the small tomato juice cans. I then grease up a piece of 5/8 garden hose and drive on the handle. I don't know what it weighs but you can smack the tar out of stuff with it.

My Savage mod 11 started losing best accuracy about 4000 rds. I rebarreled at 5000. Prairie dogs at 250 were still in harms way but much beyond that and the were in more danger from shrapnel and rocks than they were from the actual bullet. To be...

While my CVA wolf shot powerbelts very well I never did find a suitable cast load for it. The only molds I had were the lee real and mini. My best luck was with the mini and 70 gr of pyrodex. I'm a black fan and shoot it almost exclusively but that...

While Ive killed a few coyotes and bobcats with cast I've pretty much pulled away from it. Mostly a 311041 HP @ 1800 fps from 3 different calibers. Good shot placement anchors them right there. If shot placement is a little off they do the tail...

You can't hunt hogs in Missouri now either. The state has been trapping and shooting from helicopters. They claim the hunters mess up their trapping.

Like most I use pine sawdust, parrifin, beeswax, broken crayons and stir with a pine stick Not all at the same time but whatever is handy. A broken crayon stirred in with a pine stick works very well for me.

Ive filed a small flat on the top of the front sight and soldered on a piece of brass several times. Careful filing and shooting will dial it right in. Ive also used a piece of brass brazing rod on a couple guns. My old Webley has a V notch rear...
