1.180" oal has a good amount of "fingernail length" of the bullets body sticking above the mouth of the case.

I've been running that same bullet with a oal of 1.180" in 2 different 1911's.

They actually thinned the bbl down on the mas 45 compared to the then "target" rifles of the day. A mas 45 next to a mauser es340b made in 1934. The mas front sights are square & the mauser target rifle sights are chisel pointed to match the 6...

These are great full size rifles that bring a lot to the table for little $$$. Still have 1 laying around un-issued in cosmoline. If you look at the side of the front sight on the mas you will see a # stamped it it. It will be a...

2400 is a good all around plinking powder. Playing around with pc'd bullets in a 308w using the lee 312-160 tl bullet. A 100yd 10-shot group that measures 1 3/8" outside edge to outside edge. The 16.0gr of 2400/egan 308 bullet pc'd needs a...

For me the pc'd bullets have always been faster. Same bullet cast from the same alloy/same time. PC VS Traditional lube ='s pc is faster with fast burning pistol powders and rifle powders

A simple formula that will show you how much up/down you need for your sight height: distance between the sights X (amount off target \ inches to target) Example: I have a revolver that is shooting 6" high @ 25yds. distance between sights...

While cylinder gap plays a role in the velocity, the cylinder hole size itself and the bbl are the main players. Bought a nib 586 back in 1987. Put 100,000 rounds thru it and sent it back to s&w to have the timing rebuilt/bbl set back/new forcing...

I've been using 45/45/10 on my pc'd rifle bullets lately. Doesn't harm anything and the tl lubed/pc'd bullets season the bbl so I can switch to traditional cast/lubed bullets and test the same loads in the next string. The last outing with pc +...

I'm sure there is a difference in accuracy between the hp designs of the 358640's. I personally haven't seen any but I'm only using that bullet for short range plinking (25yd and closer). On the to do list is testing the 503's @ 100yds to see if...

It's extremely common for reloaders to read/use "generic data" and apply it to specific bullets. Alliant uses 3.6gr of bullseye for "their" 158gr lswc data Alliant also uses 2.8gr of bullsyeye for "their" lwc data Lyman 311156 ='s 4.0gr...

Not hand/cherry picked targets by any means. Nothing more than the test targets used to test loads for a then new 686. Was looking for a plinking load. 6-shot groups @ 50ft. 3.3gr of bullseye 3.5gr of international clays mixed 38spl cases/federal...

Hard to beat clays for plinking loads in the 44mag. 6.0gr to 6.5gr of clays and bullets in the 200gr to 250gr range do extremely well. Mihec 245gr hp's & 6.0gr of clays h&g #142 gc'd 220gr swc/200gr hpswc doesn't matter both bullets combined...
