You Guys and your pewter make me envious! I hardly ever find any. I would hate to melt some of the nicer pieces that you do find.[/ I hardly ever find any myself, If I am close by one of these places I'll stop in and take a quick look. I went to...

LenH replied to a thread Old And Out Of Touch in Cast Boolits
I belong to a shooting club that is exclusively out doors except for an airgun range in the old club house. I also shoot bullseye matches and have never considered the smoke aspect of a cast bullet. I have shot .22 Bullseye matches indoors for...

I have cast thousands of bullets with a Lee 20 pounder and it got better with a digital controller. I see nothing wrong with those pots.

225050[/ATTACH I found this piece yesterday at a Salvation Army store. It weighs a little less than a pound and is a bit beat up but it was less than the sticker price. I saw some stuff marked Pewterex and put it back and left it there. I stopped...

I had about the same experience with some lead shot, it took longer to melt than range scrap.

I made one out of plumbers strap bent double and used the bolt on the pot to anchor it. I already had the plumbers strap.

LenH replied to a thread .45 ACP Target bullet in Cast Boolits
The 452488 is nominally a little lighter than the H&G design and the little button nose is more rounded, Dad always felt like it fed better. The 160 grain bullet idea is intriguing. I do know that there is one course of fire he'll have to do...

I bought the Dillon roller handle and tried to use it for a couple of loading sessions. Wend back to the original handle and still use it. I have the handle in the floorboard of my truck and can't seem to give it away.

LenH replied to a thread .45 ACP Target bullet in Cast Boolits
That bullet looks a whole lot like the H & G 130 swc. I used to shoot a 200 gr SWC pushed with 3.8 GR of Bullseye. As of the last 10 or 12 years I have acquired a H&G S242 160 Gr SWC. I push that bullet with 4.5 GR of Bullseye. It has less felt...

My son is a keeper of reptiles and I have been getting into his bedding. He uses aspen shavings and that is what I have been using. It works just fine for me. He moved and took the critters with him. I got a small bundle of the stuff at Walmart for...

LenH replied to a thread Newbie here in Casting Equipment
And down the rabbit hole you go. Welcome to the madness. I'm glad you had someone show you the ropes. I had a mentor over 45 years ago and he is gone now but I still remember most of what he taught me, some good and some not so good. I found out...

I was able to find a couple of pieces of pewter for a good price but a couple of weeks ago I saw a pewter tankard and they wanted way too much for it. I find a piece here and there but not a whole lot but enough to add to the stash.

As I have stated numerous times, I am still on the fence with powder coating. I have tried it and am not sure it is for me. I have good results with Tac-1 & Carnauba Blue. I saw a post elsewhere and a guy said it covers up casting mistakes...
