I'll likely have him cut it back a few inches to provide more wall toward the muzzle. Currently it's a 27" barrel. And a re-crowning is a plus too.

He's anyone sent a 1867 Swede rolling block that is chambered in 8x58RD to Jes for a rebore to Winchester 40-65? Looking at the specs the rim, base, and the rim thickness appears to present a simple rechamber and straightforward barrel rebore. Am I...

With that twist, something in the 330 to 340 grain range would be a good place to start. Exact bullet choice depends on the liner and your likes. Is it a 0.372"- 0.380" liner with a 2.130 chamber length as they first were? Is it a 0.368"- 0.376"...

A 350 grain bullet moving at 1200 FPS is a lot of power. Those bullets might still be going. I can see you are having fun with this. Two thumbs up! :drinks: Nice.

The two part bullet worked well for me. I was inspired to hunt deer and elk with the two part cast bullet from a piece written in the CBA in the 1980's. I tried them in many of the medium calibers like 338-06, 35 Whelen, 375 H&H. The first time was...

Likely they are loaded with the manufacturer standard primer. Just load them for trap level ballistics. Reload and shoot again until the crimp blows out or burn through pin holes start to form where brass and paper meet.
