A bunch of years ago when I cast my very first boolit , it dropped out the mould, was lying on the towel all nice and shiney , I wanted to look at it , I blew on it , it didn't look hot , so I picked it up .... You can't tell hot by looking at...

Something that helped me was Gas Checked Boolits. A 4 cavity NOE 358-124-TC - GC mould along with a NOE custom case expander plug made all the difference in the world . The gas check helped stop boolit size down and the correct sized expander...

I get my best fill out and most perfect boolits when casting just at the light frosty temperature. Frosty boolits are not deal breakers. Imperfect bases and incomplete fill out are my reasons to go back into the pot. Gary

You can also custom fit the nose with a small ball of epoxy putty ( putty stays put , no run) . I have modified many with the epoxy method. Clean the stem nose so the epoxy will stick and grease the boolit nose so the epoxy wont stick to it . ...
