I controlled wiht 3F goex just to be sure, it was still an issue. Of course, I wasn't smacking the butt at that time to get teh powder to settle or shake into the drum. Also, no cone on the ID of the drum as it transitioned into the barrel. ...

yes, homemade powder. I shortened the drum, and in my garage it's MUCH better. I need to validate that at the range. I will report back.

Well, I can butcher a piece of metal pretty good, but I am comfortable turning a drum to the appropriate diameter, threading it with a die, drilling out the barrel, using a tap, timing the drum, D&T for nipple, cutting a cleanout screw to length,...

It's a 32 cal, and I am using 3F that does not flow as well as, say, goex. Yes it's 1/4-28. I just shortened the barrel to get the nipple closer to the main charge. It's also clear the barrel was not chamfered, I'll do that too. But you...

No countersink. Also, I can take a bunch of material off to get the nipple closer to the barrel, shorten up the gap. I can adjust the hammer as needed. Thanks for reminding me its a drum, i forgot the term. Cleanout screw does not interfere...

And I have to believe it is because of my workmanship. It's my first caplock build, my flinters run like tops. But I've never had a caplock that ran like I wanted. I think it's because I don't know what they are supposed to be like, geometrically. ...

I got my 12 ton air actuated press in the trunk, got it at lunch today, so I'm happy like a kid in a candy store. No more pumping the press down into place by hand, I'm pushbutton now!

My air float powder when piled on a bench goes poof at the same speed as finished powder. If yours does not, I would suspect more ball milling needed. It could also be an ingredient issue. I stopped using garden store sulfur because it was 10%...

Great, Great, Great info. Smoke, can you share your load data for 458 socom wiht the 500 grain LEE? and is the LEE the gas check round nose with small meplat, or is it the plain base BPCR profile bullet? I've cast, loaded, and shot both (in other...

458 socom with cast, any tips? Or maybe better put, would I have any issue with hardball lead with gas check? How about no gas check? Tumble lube vs traditional lube? How much do I need to worry about nose profile? Any other considerations?

those who have seen these in person know the pictures do no justice. Most people on this forum will never see a piano with as nice a finish as his guns have. They defy belief.

Do you believe 1 hr compression is needed? That takes a LONG time even @ 3/8" thick to fill a can of powder.

how thick are you guys compressing your pucks? I'm using fly's compression die @ 2" I have two ways to run it. 1. I use a craft paper puncher to punch 2" circles of wax paper and spoon in 1 tbsp of air-float, lay a paper down, 1 tbsp, paper, 1...

I'd like to cut my own sight base for a revolver, locate the screw holes, mill the "recoil lug" that sits in the rear sight blade channel, etc. I'd like to do this so I can customize the base length. Do blanks exist out there for this purpose, so...

For me, 100% under 100 yards, and target only to 50. So home made has a chance to compete with commercial. Especially if I put a modicum of effort into uniformity beyond batch mixing. I can see how things would be different for a BPCR shooter.

Doesn't help over spans of time. What happens if you use all of one batch, how do you make sure the next batch is the same? if you have half of an existing batch mix, and you make more, and it is different, you will now dilute your old batch by the...
