I sprinkle the sawdust on the top of my pot in a even layer then let sit for a few minutes to heat and start to char. this removes any moisture from it and gets it in the form to flux with it. A few minutes at 700-750* removes the moisture

Interesting, I have a B 1885 straight stocked 06 as well. Put a few deer in the freezer with it and have been considering it trade material. Perhaps I should play witg it a bit more. Watching to see what loads you like, shorten my process you know.

I am of the camp you referenced, if it allows a couple thou for case neck to release in the chamber it is good to go. That does not apply to the extreme of 300BO in a 223, just cause it fits donít make it ok! Use common sense. That said I use a .459...

I use reclaimed shot for base metal to make Lyman #2 ish, then cut that 50:50 with plain lead at the pot. The shot contains a decent amount of copper as well as the arsenic. Might be an easy way to add the copper you want, it’s already in solution....

I would try that brass before I scrapped it. While it is a touch short of the maximum trim length, it probably wouldn't be any different than shooting 2.105 brass with a bullet that has 2 or more grease grooves exposed. The bullet is a bit long and...

Those 52 Sporters are the ultimate 22 in my eyes. The originals are few and far between, and when found fetch a pretty penny. When I realized I shot more 22lr than anything else and it was more enjoyable, I decided to buy myself a top drawer 22 bolt...

Great hunt, those will make fine eats! My experience is you have hams on those deer that will be better than backstraps from a “trophy” buck. They are all prized in my book, congrats on a successful hunt. Oh, fine looking youngster there as well!

Sako L46 in 222 Rem fills the bill for me, but a CZ 547 in Hornet is right there as well. The CZ should be lots easier to find, and might even find a 221 Fireball, exec better! That Sako is from the 50s, only CZ makes them like that nowadays. I...

One of the specifics of the walking around rifle is light weight and handiness. Look for a thin short barreled model something in the 5-7 lb range. I have a martini cadet wth 20: shilen barrel in 218 bee that goes 6lbs with scope mounted. This rifle...
