X-caliber makes barrels for 40wt, Price isn't too bad. Dies are $$ but you can use 300BO set up properly. Chamber design is more for light <150gr bullets and higher fps. Didn't know plum crazy lowers were carbon fiber - must be expensive due to...

Yes, an unknown additive like pewter I would make a single batch - Later accumulations go into a different batch. You get a base deformation problem, a flow into the grooves or a (large dia.) pushed/cut away from the lands. BHN (alloy) affect all...

Good test and write-up. Results similar to mine but I use a different (roto metals derived) alloy. IMHO you will get better results (higher BHN) with ice water as the cooling RATE really determines quenched hardness. The coating acts as an...

I experimented with that last fall, it works but I suggest you put a porous cover over it. Like a lite cotton cloth fastened to the container. Swirl every once in a while.

OK, question - 38 sp in 357 mag snuby. Does the longer cylinder give any 'barrel length ' advantage over a 38 sp, same length barrel? I can't handle 357 snubby but 38 is OK - is there an advantage to the 38/357 setup? Just factory ammo.

My selection and how they do. Also the half jacket 100gr over 8gr cfe pistol are fun but single shot. AGB is leaded so I can't turn up the gas for the pistol.

Probably a lead sulfate. Sulfur turns red when melted and black just before it burns. Your boolits will stink. Trick is to melt the sulfur, then immerse it. Zn sulfate should be a brownish dusty powder. S is a good alloy hardener but yes it is...

My maveric 12ga with heavy slugs would be the choice, lighter, shorter barrel and I possibly could hit a charging bear @ 25-50 yds. If used as a club, not much $ loss. Farther than that and you are hunting.

40sw 180gr Lee TC cast with pure and just a tad of Zn & Cu (~1/2% each). Backer is that fiber wall board. Med jacketed load of 231, 950 or so fps. As you can see, some hles are rectangular. ~1% Sb added to alloy for 185gr RD 30/30 on a dead pig...

Well, once in the barrel and once on the way to the target. General bullet design is to reduce air friction and turbulence that reduce velocity and interfere with gyro stability. The turbulence range (~speed of sound) is actually a 'range' of...

Very old news. Just finalizing the hardening without a complete 'start-over'. Another process that makes it really hard is to add pressure (swage) in the cooler process, then reheat. Battery grid makers been doing it for years. Shows that you can...

Pb doeswn't heat treat. So adding the Sb (which does) gains you hardness. 1% Sb (~ COWW 50/50) will heat treat but you don't gain much. 2.5% (WW or 50/50) does very well. As seems to accelerate the hardening.

Did you get tipped when you were working (steel mill, auto parts, medical)? Used to be 5%, then 10, now 20%. You are just subsidizing the workers who 'should' be getting paid for their work. No different than the farm worker that gets welfare as...
