Frankford Arsenal developed its #70 mixture in non-mercuric improved H-48 mixture which wasn't introduced until September, 1919. Mercuric primers were sold as reloading components up until WWI.

Before regurgitating internet BS about the trials of the FAL vs the T44 one should get the facts of the tests. One should not criticize based on the 1953 test results and then leave out the results of the 1955 tests. Also McNamara had nothing to...

If you add 3% tin to that you'll have very close to #2 alloy which will not be quite as brittle. The BHN will increase to 14 - 16 also.

It's just a function of the softer alloy pushed as hard as I push them. I've used that alloy for years in 7mm up through my 375 H&H at 1900 - 2200+ fps. They work for me especially in my 35 Remington. Here's two 5 shot groups at 100 yards to...

Add 2% tin to your COWWs for targets loads. Simply mix that alloy 50/50 with lead for hunting bullets. It's what I do with my 35-200-FN RCBS bullet in my M91 35 Remington. I use same load for both so zero is the same. I can shoot the practice...

Are you sure about they were Trumpeters? We have hundreds of commons here right now. Some states you can hunt them. You draw a tag just like for deer and you get one for the year. Swan taste just like a canada goose.

Start out with 50% each and a Tablespoon of Lanolin and go from there..You will be close.. Too hard add a bit more Vaseline, bit too soft add more candle wax. Oh one more thing; Let it cool completely before you judge the hardness

The bullet on the far right is a commercial cast bullet (20-1). It is a 550 gr bullet. Bullet #3 is a 457483 which is just the GC'd version of the 457124 (bullet #4) as you surmised.

How about a Rapine 460210 over 6 gr of Bullseye for a plinker/small game load? It's the bullet on the left. It's a real screamer at 990 fps and thumps pesky critters pretty good too!

Both reasons with truly "cat's sneeze" loads. With loads such as this there is sometimes a benefit of better ignition, sometimes not. It seems to depend on the primer used more than anything. With Rem 9 1/2s and CCI 200s it appears beneficial...

That is correct. The problem was understood in the very late 1890s. Primers with fulminate of mercury were discontinued and non-mercuric primers were introduced. That solver the problem with smokeless powder cases being wrecked by the mercury. ...

Fwiw I use a Remington sp-10 with 3.5" size t shot. I bat perhaps 400's. Geese are tough birds. The feathers are very dense and tough to penetrate. Sounds silly if you are used to shooting lead but consider lead is dense and heavy. Steel shot...

"The doubt is : may I enlarge flashole avoiding dacron filler?" The Dacron filler will still be needed for N110 to ignite and burn efficiently under that light of a cast bullet in the 7.65x53 case. The enlarged flash hole may help a little but...

I don't think that's a "myth busted" MT Gianni. The short stubby pistol WCs shot in 18 3/8" twist barrels are not very stable past 50 yards and many times make slightly oblong holes at 50 yards. The much longer .30 caliber 311440 will be shot...
