Peregrine has been shooting PPU factory loaded 303 ammo and reports it works beautifully, smooth extraction, bolt just slides back slick as can be, I love it when a fine rifle shoots like it should.:drinks: Hum I guess all the ringed chamber, it's a...

I lube all types of molds with a Sprue plate lube, the one I use is similar to a fully synth two stroke oil.

"Did ya see something I missed while shooting?" Yep, it was the 405 gr plain based PC bullet at 2000 fps from your 45-90, couldn't see round holes in the target at 100!:coffeecom

Lyman make an M2 expander die which will bell the case mouth. Other than thatm a deburring tool will chamfer the mouth for seating gas checked boolits. I'm loading a 55gn RCBS boolit over 17.5gns 3031 for 1840fps. Not a fast load but very accurate...

Not much interest for me but wife and daughters love them, carbines are the norm. I'll take my old bolt action, but if I ever did I think I'd want something longer, maybe 24 inch!

When the alloy is no longer up to the job plain based and you lead up and accuracy is gone. Many many things can affect where this happens including alloy comp, powder speed, bullet design, barrel condition, fit x100 more. Nobody can say you need a...

I haven't noticed that and always assumed slightly large or small shanks was more of an individual mold thing, that combined with alloy and mold temp can change shank dia. quite a bit.

You are correct, I have it mixed up. Oops. I will admit, this is my assumption. I have a few old Ideal GC style molds. When I install the old style brass GC's and run the GC'd boolits through a Lubesizer, the GCs go on nice & square...

You are mistaken. That statement needs to include bullet diameter/caliber and even weight can change things. In my experience PC is a great lube but very little more. Add a little HBN to the PC even better lube

I thought Hornady made the all Lyman, RCBS and Sierra gas checks for them? I have shot thousands of the old Ideal Gunsight Corp brass slip on gas checks, still do in 31 and 32 cal, and never had one stay in the barrel, ever. I've had plenty exit at...

The old Ideal gas checks I have are brass and the new Hornady are gilding metal, I don't remember any made of pure copper. I haven't herd the other about gc shanks being different sized either.
