You cannot easily predict what the Chinese do. I have been in their factories and they have a lot of imported German and Japanese machine tools. They also are prone to short cuts if they are not carefully managed. One example They were building...

EDG replied to a thread 30 WCF Die in Reloading Equipment
Why not make a chamber cast or measure the neck with a set of .001" increment gauge pins? Then you will know what the neck diameter is. A RCBS trim die has a neck diameter that is .010" larger than a RCBS FL die. The RCBS trim die would serve as...

You might want to review the finite element analysis at Varmit Al's site. http://www.varmintal.com/amod7.htm 1. Many of us use brass that has been mechanically formed to fit the chamber with a little friction when the bolt is closed so those...

    1. You need to trim your brass or 2. If shooting a single shot you can skip crimping all together and or 3. The Lee factory crimp die can be used instead of your integral crimp shoulder. The Lee FCD will not buckle your cases because it works...

I use a bullet cast in a Brooks mold I got off of ebay. It casts .460 to .461 and I shoot them at 1100 fps. I use smokeless for excellent accuracy in a Pedersoli Billy Dixon and a Browning Highwall BPCR model.

Your post only confirmed my concern. There are tens of thousands of reloaders out there that want their dies tight and they will get them tight regardless of what anyone else or Lee thinks about die and lock ring design. Each of those reloaders is a...

I think that Lee's new lock ring design is not a good idea knowing how tight some people will tighten their dies. The nylon wrench will fail and the reloader will have to use a pipe wrench or similar to get a grip on the weird ring profile. Lee...

I have measured my RCBS .38-55 and .375 Win dies and found the .375 FL was larger by .005. It is my memory that the .375 (larger FL die) would be just right for minimum sizing of the .38-55 brass. A ,38-55 would size the .375 a little more than...

About 20 years ago I talked to Jay Postman (RIP) OF RCBS Technical Services. He said the .375 FL sizer is about .005 larger than the .38-55 sizer due to the thicker brass used in the .375.
