On the plus side, ammo is being made again. I wish it were something heavier than 150 grain, but Hornady has been contracted with Graf & Sons and have started making ammo for the .303 Savage again, on ammoseek one box was running about $28.00. ...

I had no issues with the action closing, I got good groups out of both the 300 and 405 grain bullets and no issues with the action.

I had a Savage 1899 once, an early gun, around 1901, liked the gun a lot, and I didn't handload then so I cut it loose. There are several 1899's here between a couple different shops, all .303 Savage and none of them seem to gather interest because...

I took the 94 out to the range today with some of my handloads, a mild load using Hornady 170 grain soft points. Got a group the size of a quarter at 25 yards. This gun is begging for a tang sight. I also put a bowling pin out to 125 yards, this gun...

Well with all the issues I had with the Winchester 1892, it was nice to find a gun that should be a tried and true favorite. This one is a Model 94 carbine in .30-30, a transitional gun from 1939 which was one of those from the late 20's through the...

I did a review of one in .45-70 a while back, I still have the gun, I just ordered a Skinner barrel mounted peep sight for it. https://www.ammoland.com/2018/06/henry-single-shot-45-70/#axzz5TIbpV6PU

Recently my son was telling me how much he liked my Spanish Rolling Block in .43 Spanish, but he's too little for that gun, and he asked me if there was any Rolling Blocks in .22 LR. I happened across this one online from a place I have done...

I am going to give the gun one more chance, this more I took some JB bore paste and went to town and cleaned the barrel, I did it once before and that's right about when I got a little accuracy out of it. Well, this morning I went over it again,...

Yeah, factory ammo isn't even on paper, keyholes big time and I can tell you it's off four to five feet at 25 yards. .312" 115 grain handloads, large group size, starting to keyhole. The .313" 115 grain Lyman bullets I am using, tried them with...

I have been trying to find a load or a way to avoid it, but I am afraid I am going to have to reline the barrel of my old 1892 Winchester. My local gunsmith does this and since there is no bluing left sweating the liner in after he drills it out...

I have one loose spot when I slug it, I tried it again today with the same bullets and the accuracy after a few shots goes right out the window. It doesn't keyhole but it's scattering the shots out quite a ways, I talked to my local gunsmith, he...

Well, I think I am onto something. My old Winchester 1892 .32-20 was keyholing with bullets with .312" which is what the barrel slugs out at, and (115 grain Lyman bullets). So while I wait for .313" bullets to get here, I decided to try paper...

Nope, slugged it again, those first couple inches are as tight as a drum. I've gotten some paper patched bullets that right now are running .315" (used rice paper which is incredibly hard to wet and lay and wrap around the bullet since it basically...

I slugged the bore a while back and I am getting .312" out of it. Right now I get what I would say are about 3-4 inch groups at 25 yards with .312" bullets that I loaded for my other .32-20, and you can just see them start to keyhole, at 50 yards...
