BK7saum replied to a thread grendel brass in Reloading Equipment
I bought a case of 6.5 Grendel hornady black ammo when I started with 6.5 this year. $18.20 a box delivered. It was cheaper to buy ammo than buy brass and load ammo.

Lots of times, we create problems for ourselves when we perceive a problem that doesn't exist because we read about this or that. Yes, BTDT, got the Tshirt.

Sounds like you are trying to find a solution to a problem that may not exist. The barrels appear to be tapered and tighter at the muzzle, which is the ideal situation for cast boolits. The thread choke, a real problem sometimes, doesn't exist in...

Do you need correct headstamp brass? 7mm rem mag necked down would get you there.

Do you have a fan blowing from the side that isn't filling out? It could be cooling the mold half just enough to not get good fill out.

I am sure it is aluminum. CCI blazer ammo was non-reloadable aluminum cased ammunition

Trail boss is not necessarily a low pressure powder, just low velocity. I would be wary of trail boss and get a handle on what is safe before loading and shooting any ammo loaded with TB

No, not disagreeing at all, but merely stating different possible viewpoint. But what caliber and how much energy. 300 rum with 230 Berger will pass through a whitetail and likely have hundreds or more ftlbs of KE left over. Obviously not the...

But then you have the question of whether you want all the energy dumped in the animal or have wasted energy of a complete pass through. Only 14-17" needed to reach the vitals. Just different needs/wants/arguments. I prefer a pass-through if...

I cant find the numbers but photos of both 50AE and 429DE appear to be same case length. Sometimes cases lengthen slightly when necking down. Might be a little short or a little long and need trimming. But looks like the 50 AE brass might be the...

I checked with starline, but didn't see any brass available to public even though they make the brass for Magnum Research. Can you form 429 DE from 50AE brass or is the case lengths different. You might see if someone can send a few 50AE brass to...

My perceptions were that this wasn't a hardness issue, but the new clean brass is "sticky". It can be more sticky depending on how it was handled or how the bullet was handled/treated. I have given new brass a light coat of " one shot" and it...

Pure lead should never harden to 14. Must have had some mystery alloy or wheelweights. I suspect you previous boolits were not pure or lead tin alloy.

It has nothing to do with the case or chamber body. Cases and chamber body dimensions are for practical purposes identical 5.56 is loaded to higher pressures and the bullets loaded in military ammunition may be and are loaded to fit a longer...

Bingo. 2 hands hold the gun tighter and minimizes the muzzle rise compared to the 1 hand hold. Just physics.

I think that leaving a check in the case neck has nothing to do with type of puller used. I have left checks in cases with collet and impact pullers. As far as how this one will work, idk. In my opinion, grip or collet pullets don't work for...

Also, shooter grade SP1 Colts sell for $1000-1800. At the very least I'd put it in the safe and keep it as an investment or sell it. Way too valuable to separate it.

When you switched out the fire control groups, did you also use separate disconnectors and springs or did you swap triggers and hammers only. If the disconnector hook is too short or been chipped/worn, it will release the hammer before the...

I seriously doubt it is the receiver itself. It is something in the disconnect or like mention above with reduced loads. Don't toss it. I'm sure there is an explanation, and I would want to find out for certain what the reason is.

BK7saum replied to a thread Neck length in Cast Boolits
A neck length that is close to max of the chamber would be beneficial if you plan to shoot cast boolits. For jacketed bullets, it won't matter. Cast can bump up in the gap between the neck and throat and cut a ring from the boolit as it is forced...
