What are your velocities? Since your molds are plain base, you probably wont be able to exceed 1500-1800 fps and still get accuracy. wrong mold for the problem. I'd bet a gas check mold would work much better. If you want some of the gas check...

I occasionally get a very slight lead smear when the sprue plate lube wears off. But for the most part it runs just fine. One the sprue frosts, I wait a couple more seconds and with a light push of the gloved thumb, the sprue is cut. No problems and...

No, I pour a generous sprue puddle and like the plate to be hot enough for the puddle to remain liquid for about 5 seconds or slightly longer. I can see the molten lead divot as the bullet solidifies, then the puddle frosts over shortly after. My...

I position my sprue plate so that the tab is toward the handles and the sprue pivot is away. I preheat my molds. After just a pour or two, I easily push the sprue plate after the sprue puddle frosts over. I find this configuration easiest for me...

What caliber? Typically we dont see high primers because the case will stretch above the case head and reseat the primer. (it will be flat). What you appear to have is slight headspace, but the load was weaker or the brass was stronger and the...

Thick necks or overly long cases can raise pressures drastically. I always check to make sure that the loaded case neck is AT LEAST 0.002" less than a fired case neck. I had a 223 rem case with a very enlarged primer pocket. I am certain it...

My set looks like that, but I bought from Enco or MSC with and discount and shipping coupon and it was around $80 I think, maybe a little more. It's been a while, though.

I formed all of mine without annealing. RP 233 and Lake city 556 brass. Did not anneal afterwards either. I have a few reloads on them and no split necks yet. I think I would just anneal afterwards unless you get failures from the forming. It is...

It is a fairly normal occurrence. If you need to remove the check, push down on one side and turn the check vertical in the neck, then pull out with needle nose pliers.

Learned a long time ago, just run the factory mags. There are some reliable aftermarket manufacturere, but the good ones are usually close in cost to the factory mags anyway.

BK7saum replied to a thread Cam over pressure ? in Cast Boolits
I measure fired cases with a comparator to get a number/measure of shoulder distance and set the die up in the press to so that the shoulder gets slightly bumped. That number being 0.001-0.002" less that the measurement of the fired case is all that...

BK7saum replied to a thread Cam over pressure ? in Cast Boolits
I very seldom have my sizing dies (rifle) screwed in enough to have a hard cam over. I bump shoulders 0.001-0.002" and this usually occurs with the die slightly off the shellholder. I don't screw carbide pistol dies in to cam over because it can...

Yes, I had a case separate on a 300 BLK. Pushed a patched jag in just ahead of the chamber. Then poured pewter into the chamber. Tapped the separated case right out. Nothing else worked for me. I would've used cerrosafe but didbt have any.

On the flux, a quality acid based flux is necessary and clean, clean jackets. I've always kilned mine, but the torch method seems to work across the board for many others so you need not invest in one unless you need to do enough to get the money...

How close are the fired cases to plunking back into the chamber? What is the protrusion of the case head beyond the barrel hood? If this was something other than a semi-auto, I'd say that the chamber was cut too deep. When checking the plunk test...
