I'll go with depends - upon ammo availability - 22LR would still be my normal first choice but due to chronic shortages in certain areas I'd have to say that I may have someone look into an air rifle/pistol or even a Laser unit for their initial...

I like post 3 and post 4. think about it, the ones that come out right shot well so you do have valid data. after you settle in again with consistent loads, and if you see the anomaly rear up on a consistent or semi-consistent basis, then reducing...

yep you can insert them in a berm at 1800 fps you just can't rotate them around a steel rim at 400 rpm. sumthin about idiot birds following cars around waiting for parts to fall off so they can eat them.

we use pure to make varmint bullets. kind of backwards from the malleability thing you'd expect. if you got pure to mix with the ww's I'd test some 30-1.

Then I would beg your forgiveness, for it wasn't my intent to call it obsolete. No useable firearm which you can make work is obsolete, if you are competent and profiecient with it.

This one has about 3 runs on it . So I got 2-300 bullets . It just doesn't do what I thought I wanted it to do ......... It pours easy and casts about 90% keepers . $85 shipped . Would trade for most of the current in stock NOE moulds...

I must say I do like that slug... except I would rather have it in solid or at least not such a big HP. If I had a rifled gun I'd order a mould. I might anyway, I am working back around to working on my slow twist rifled choke tube.

I seriously doubt it's the powder causing the leading. Might try dipping finger tip, or usea Q-tip, in LLA and cover the exposed nose of the bullet. Let dry thoroughly before shooting. That worked for me with a couple hundred similar rounds I...

Actually the term "Mexican Match" started in the '60s at the International Games in Mexico. The US Army shooters pulled M118 (white Box) 174 gr FMJ match bullets and replaced them with Sierra 168 MKs for use in the 300m events. It morphed into...

Depending upon alloy a harder bullet may be more brittle, and if the nose shatters and blows off in fragments, penetration will be less. If you want more penetration, use a solid flat-nose with meplat 0.6 to 0.7 of the bullet diameter, which will...

The Modern Bond and early Keith style bullets of the 1920s were loosely based upon the Royal Navy profile, and Accurate molds produces modern clones in popular calibers today, which I have found effective:

yes those two NOE bullets will work fine in a 14" twist .222. Just have to push the longer, heavier pne at 1800+ fps is all. That's what I found with the Lyman 225462.

I would agree! I wouldn't recommend loads which appreciably exceed 900 fps with 100-115 grain bullets in the Colt Police Positive Special and the early un-heat-treated S&Ws .32-20 Hand Ejectors. I find it an interesting observation that the...
