Now I remember why my Dad wouldn't shot cast in the Garands. Okay for 1903&A3's, ok for M1917 and any sporting rifle. Too much inconsistency in the Garands. And back 50-60yrs ago there was no way to regulate gas pressure, as with the accessories...

Used it all my life. Always from an old Gentleman here in LA. Either in type form or 5lb blocks designed to be feed into a typecasting machine. (Still saving about 12+ 5lb blocks) Melted down all the pieces into 1lb ingots using OHAUS Ingot Molds....

I started out stacking 4"X6" pieces of 1/4" plywood under a inverted ingot mold. You slide the right number of pieces to get the level you need. I built a base with metal strips for the sides to hold the plywood pieces in place. Worked much better...

The #454190 is an old favorite as it's the original profile. But they're hard to keep from sliding back into the case when you stuff 14 in a 24 1/2" rifle's magazine. Yes I said 14 rounds on a UBERTI 1873 rifle. I also can get 14 .44WCF Cartridges...

I load .32ACP, 32Short&Wimpy, .32S&W Long & .32H&R Mag on a RCBS Piggyback 2 mounted on the 'ol RockChucker. The only problem I ever encountered was using Moly-Coated 80gr RN's. The little bugger's would slip out of my fingers. Not a problem with...

    A .45 Caliber 280gr SWC at 950fps or a .44 Caliber 265gr FP at 1000fps, makes a pretty good argument.

The Lee factory crimp die in .44WCF & .38WCF won't work on MINIMUM LENGTH BRASS. I ran into the very same problem with new starline brass. It's also to thick to chamber a .427 bullet in my 1st GEN COLT. Either shorten the lee die or clip a...

One of my Cowboy Shooting Buddies has been shooting a pair of C/H Blue .44Mags for 20yrs. In & out of the Holsters a couple thousand times a year for 20+yrs. They look better than My COLTS. I just did a total stripdown & heavy cleaning of them....

dikman, i have no experience with PID's, never having seen one up close. I've seen them in a video. Dude drilled a hole in the back of his LEE pot & stuck the probe through the hole to rest on the heating element underneath the pot. Guess I should...

Good choice. I just sent my 35yr old back for the 2nd time 3 months ago. This time they charged me $111.00 for a full rebuild. And $30 bucks to send it to them. The temp. keep bouncing up&down, froze the spout once. So I figured to get it in while...

Graf.com They list them by REDDING, but out of stock. $90. They are REALLY GOOD dies. I've had a set for 25yrs. I use BERTRAM brass. They're made correctly and are soft enough to expand with the low-pressure loads I use in my WINCHESTER 1886...

I started out shooting the RCBS .45-225-CAV in my .45COLT UBERTI 1873 clone back in 1992 when they first came out. There were no "Cowboy" bullets back then. Sized .452, bore slugged .451dia. that bullet dropped .454dia. I used "Bear Creek" Moly...

I've had one 25yrs+. Never had a chambering problem of any kind. Must have shot 20,000 rds myself. It's also my loaner at Cowboy Matches. Never heard a complaint from any other YELLOWBOY owners/users. Is it a new gun? Or used. It could be you just...

Got a (new) die set in the mail today, .44MAG. Bought it from a member here. He listed it as 44MAG/steel. Came in the factory plastic box with only the SWC seating stem. All the description there was. Boy ya gotta ask detailed questions. The die...

I grew up shooting the LYMAN #356402 cast of LINOTYPE, sized .356DIA. Many 1,000's were shot in WW2 P-38's & various LUGERS. Even a BIG RED 9 Broomhandle. Plus S&W Model 39's & Hi-Power's. Always at MAX LOADS. JUST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE GOOD...

Back in the mid '70's-1980's it seemed every 200lb+ pig in Central California had a GristlePlate over their Ribcages. It has been CA. State Law since I can remember that JACKETED EXPANDING BULLETS were required for all Hunting. No .22 centerfire for...

I've owned a UBERTI '73 Rifle in .44WCF since 1992. Other than a complete strip down every 5,000rds ( about 1 1/2-3yrs) and a change to WILLIAMS Full Buckhorn Rear and .375 1/8" Brass Bead Front Sight. Nothing has needed to be done to it, but...

I started my own Reloading setup in 1974. My first scale was an RCBS 10-10. I had to skip lunches for a week. But it was worth it. I had to send it back to RCBS about 25yrs ago. Otherwise it has functioned FANTASTICALLY for 44 YEARS.
