OlDeuce a couple days ago you were in the mid 30'sF ??, that 748 was cold man! I don't think those large pistol primers are up to the task, maybe a LR primer or a 350 CCI would get it burning. .02 Why pistol primers with 748, most manuals show...

Exactly right! All this internet hoopala of single digit ES and single digit SD are being regurgitated by internet experts that very seldom shoot or post targets, and when they do post targets they are cropped, and we all know about that.[smilie=l:

What's this Capt Morgan stuff? personal attack< hum. The top Loewe was sporterized when I got it, 1893(by that I mean the fore stock and barrel were sawed off, I D&T, welded on RCE bolt handle and jeweled bolt) the full length rifle shows 1892,...

Jack, we RARELY NEED another rifle it is just a good idea. I sold a number of guns last spring that I hardly ever shot any more and turned the money into this Shiloh Sharps in 40-50. So far it has been a hoot to shoot. Bob

I believe that the way you make your Charcoal will make a bigger difference in consistency than the density. JMHO since I haven't tested that theory. I have tested my powder against 2 store brands and found that the difference in velocities when...

The recipe is in deer camp, 170 miles from here, also where I squirrel hunt. We slow cook them in Chardonnay along with some vegetables and pour over mashed potatoes. Best to just quarter them, not as many bones that way. I got the recipe from the...

Very good summation. If you are like me most of your game will be taken under 300 yds and at those ranges your Whelen will be an excellent performer.

That should work on everything the lower 48 has to offer, actually Alaska too. That powder has to be in H380 or even closer to H414-W760 speed with those load densities, excellent velocity BTW. I would worry about actual accuracy on multiple targets...

Pistol and rifle twist for the same boolit are usually different, but all you can do is try it and see what happens. Years ago I tried shooting a 38-40 boolit in my 40cal ML with a 48 twist barrel. For the most part it shot minute of deer. About...

Probably true, even a big vice might do the same. To be honest I haven't felt under powered with the powder that I've been making since I use it for hunting. 2 deer and a bushel basket of squirrels sure couldn't tell the difference. Bob

With that twist it will like slugs better than RBs. Probably made for a mid or LR gun. Deer Creek made their own barrels before it was sold. They had 2 rifling machines on site. I have had 2 of their H&A RB guns in 50 cal and they shoot lights out,...
