Walks replied to a thread Old Keith 44 New Crimp in Cast Boolits
Were you going for a std roll crimp ? If your round drops in & out of the chamber, there is no problem. If you want a roll crimp, then you have some careful die adjustment to work on. The only way to get a good roll crimp is to start with cases...

My DAD fed his the LYMAN #356402 sized .355 cast hard of pure Linotype. Harder the bullet the better the feed. Seat to edge of bearing surface. he used a second sizing ( no decapping rod ) die to "taper crimp". Lubed the whole cartridge to do it,...

I am not sure how many deer I have killed with a .243 but it is around 50 or 60. Mostly with 100 grain softs points. Never lost one with it and never had to track one over 75 yards. Snow with a crust on it is great for tracking. Fresh fluffy...

I use the 500 rd commercial bullet ( reinforced with packing tape, they last forever )boxes from the days when my kids & I shot a 1,000rds a week in Cowboy Action Shooting. Stacked & separated by "shelves" cut from cereal boxes. Smaller quantities...

I have been known to be a bit "thrifty" with brass. These are Starline cases that have had nothing but this load in them. Load is NOE Ranchdog 265 rnfp over 22 of H110 with Russian primers. Very accurate in several guns. Gun is a 5.5" Bisley Ruger...

I trim all my R-P brass to 1.285", it's reserved for my '66/'73's. I have 3 different Bullets I use; a MAGMA 225gr. a 210gr RCBS and a 200gr #42798. With the old LYMAN dies, I'm able to crimp on the Ogive of each bullet, maintaining an O.A.L....

Yep a case splits, it lowers the pressure. Therefore bullets from split cases are moving slower, each split case is going to cause a slightly different change in pressure. So bullets are going to leave the bbl moving at slightly different...

I think we have to consider that Keith started his casting from single cavity molds with integral handles. It's easiest to get a single cavity mold to release then any other type. And Keith merely took another older design and put a crimp...

This O.A.L. of yours is a bit confusing. I find that my UBERTI copies of the 1966/'73 will handle an O.A.L. of 1.600" maximum. My MARLIN 1894 & WINCHESTER 1892 will handle an O.A.L. of 1.620" without a problem. A loaded round that long will...

Seems a strange way to crimp, or refer to it. I guess because I'm using a set of OLD Lyman All-American Dies from the early 1960's that I have a lot less trouble loading my .44WCF ammo then just about anyone I met Cowboy Shooting. My die set reduces...

A complete refinish by COLT would cost about half the price of a new Revolver. Colt offered Wood Grips at this time in production. But they cost a couple of bucks more, and had gold medallions.
