I've shot a lot of blue dot in my 416 Taylor under the RCBS 350. It works quite well. Not hard to hit 1700 fps with very good accuracy. That formula sounds about right, usually I'd call a 50 percent load to be the top so 40 pct. Should be plenty...

That's a good tip. I knew some guys wipe their cartridge rifles with RV antifreeze so making moose milk out of it makes sense.

I tried that. It makes super fast super dirty burning powder. Great for fireworks, not so good for guns. Evidently the Confederates used something called cottonwood, but it was not the same tree as we have growing here in the southwest.

Water soluble cutting oil or ballistol in water. Looks like milk but tastes awful. I have a Hoyt rebored 58 Cal renegade. Same deal, it doesn't shoot well with light charges but get it up to 110 grains or so and it's a tack driver. I figure it's...

I shot one with a 454 once. It died. The 480 should be similarly effective.

Lots of other wood makes good powder also. Lately I've been using the cedar lizard bedding from Walmart. It's already shredded up and makes decent gunpowder. So does tree of heaven, aka paradise which grows everywhere.

Those have five groove barrels, so slugging the bore won't work unless you have a V anvil mic. In the case of my two rifles, the groove diameter was bigger than what would fit in a fired case. So it really didn't matter, I just used slip fit soft...

Mine would hold about 80 grains of FFg, droptubed but not compressed. A grease cookie, and a paper patched slick from a homemade mould, to duplicate the original bullet. No loading dies used, bullets were sized to be a slip fit in a fired case....

I use a 38-55 die for that. Worth a try if you have one. If you do cut your 30-30 die, anneal it at the cut first and it works better.
