I suppose if you wanted to fire balls in one you'd be best to find one that fits the chamber closely so it will seal the bore when you touch it off. A big lubed felt wad behind it would likely help quite a bit also. Just size that so it's snug in...

Sure you can, but with no lube and no gas seal like a patch around the ball it won't be very accurate and will foul out fast.

I wish it worked. This city is covered in Chinese Elms. It grows fast but is really hard, and doesn't even make decent firewood.

It does work pretty well. Recently I've been using red cedar lizard bedding from Walmart. It's already chipped up and makes pretty decent powder. Lots of ways to go about this.

As was mentioned, it's the saami 357 chamber. Most smaller bullets will clear the case before they're fully supported in the bore with predictable results. Longer cases and longer bullets seated way out really help, but the throat does have a .360"...

They rechambered them to the max to get rid of the silly throat they were made with. I have one myself, as a mag it was pretty useless. Turned into a max it is quite the accurate rifle, with naked and paper patched boolits. But yeah, for what they...

Yep, the lack of public land there kills it for me. I love being able to get out of town and do pretty much anything I want to here in NM.

I believe Idaho is looking like the best bet at this point, but as you mentioned a lot of others are going there too. Luckily New Mexico is so poor not many want to move here, but it's getting pretty violent around here and I keep thinking about...

Probably. Of course you have to keep in mind roundball rifling should be a lot deeper than bullet rifling ideally.

Check out Rowell ladles. They feed from the bottom like a gravy ladle and make minimize contamination. I have one I use for smelting ingots but have never cast bullets with one, I use the RCBS ladle for that.

Those new pedersoli ones look really nice. Supposed to be built for 22lr bpcr matches.

I have given some thought to getting a custom barrel made that could do that. You'd have to think hard about twist rate, probably keep it as slow as possible and stick with lighter bullets. Get the blank extra long so you can use part of it to make...

That ought to harm anything that gets hit by it. It'll probably go lengthwise through an elk or most anything else, so there's no need for more speed. I am surprised at how fast you are able to get it to go in that straightwall case, but then again...

If the bore isn't too far gone I'd just get a handful of those rimfire adapter cases that use a .22 blank, a bullet mould (could be a round ball) and a can of black powder and enjoy it for what it is. That way no money spent and you get to use your...

Yes, check it out first before you buy. I have some 15# printer paper that works really well for PP, and some 20# that is too thick to be useful. You don't want to end up with boxes of stuff that won't work. If you can get one sheet you can wrap...

I don't like using powder that fast for the kicker. Something in the range of 4227, lil gun, 2400, etc is smoother and safer. Usually 5 gr. Or so is plenty. You just want to get the main charge actually burning.

You'll have to duplex all those to get much out of them in the cartridges listed. The loads are simple, a few grains of kicker powder and as much of the slow stuff you can get in the case, tightly compressed.

They're both going to need 5/16" rods since the next size up is 3/8". Unless you could find a metric size between the two.
