I just find 32s exceptionally difficult to shoot at much distance. I have a Dixie 32 Cal flintlock, and at 25 yards you can cover the groups with a dime. At 50 yds it's more like a baseball. It seems like it shouldn't open up that fast but it always...

Walmart brand. It's cheapest. And a nice red color.

Nice! Yep, you must still be able to get the good old type caps. The ones I have found in the US have been dumbed down and are nothing like what was around when I was a kid.

I cut the chamber .030" short so you can't do that. Trimmed the dies down to match, and load it to .35 rem ballistics. I wouldn't have done it but the chamber had a huge gouge in it from the factory, and couldn't be fired with standard pressure...

You must be able to get better ones than I have been able to find. I couldn't even get them to fire my underhammer. They are also very corrosive. I just order a case of caps at a time from powder valley or elsewhere and it keeps me going for a long...

I can't speak for the OP but I sized them to .427" and patched up to .433" to fit the throats of my old super Blackhawk. Same size it needs naked bullets to be.

I tried that years ago for the same reason. Does it work? And came to the same conclusion. About the best reason I thought of is for hunting if you wanted to use really soft bullets at full speed. Otherwise not much point.

I'd find someone with a modern cnc mill who could do that job with a threadmill rather than try to do it in a lathe. Once it's programmed and indicated it would only take a few minutes and all the holes would be pointed in the same direction.

My 336 has been rechambered to 358 win to clean up a damaged chamber, but yes I use that boolit or the ranch dog 190 over 1.9cc VV 10B101. (Similar to blue dot) for more power 3031 or 748 work well, but there are a ton of powders that do well in the...

It's hard to beat the RCBS 200, it was made for your combo.

And if you plan on shooting the RCBS boolit you'll want a 10. A 14 works beautifully with the NOE 75gr. but keyholes with the RCBS 90 gr. (or is it 95?)

You also need to be aware of the outside diameter. If it's too small your threads show through, not a good sight. And you probably can't get it cut if it has a chrome lined bore. Otherwise, just as stated above, find somebody who does this and they...

I have noticed that recently the leftists can't bear to say Donald Trump's name so they are just calling him P45. So this presents a unique business opportunity. Ruger should come up with a deal to market the P45 signature series pistol! It would...

Put some thought into your chamber reamer. Lots of choices available depending on what you want to load with and brand of brass. Floating pilot is good since bore diameter is all over with 38 Cal barrels.

You'll probably have to seat it really deep to get it to feed and chamber, otherwise try it and see if it's accurate. No real downside otherwise.

That's news to me. I routinely shoot bullets with gascheck shanks that are paper patched. They work great without the checks on them. But naked bullets, yeah they seem to only work at very low pressure levels without the checks.

They make the same thing with a check shank. 311316? Maybe. Anyhow, it's out there. If not Lyman then NOE or Accurate can fix you up. Me, I just paper patch them when I want them to go at high speed.

Most 35 whelen dies have a tapered expander button and work just like you imagine. You can use 25-06 and 270 brass also, though that will need to be trimmed after you form it. And yes, annealing is a very good thing.

Nice find! You'll certainly enjoy it. My only comment is ditch the pyrodex and get some real gunpowder. I'd bet the ignition will be much better and it's certainly easier on your gun and you not having to deal with the corrosion issues.

Nobade replied to a thread Ruger 77/50 barrel in Muzzleloading.
It's the same action (almost) as any other Ruger pistol caliber model 77. Any decent gunsmith can fit a barrel to it. Green Mountain make 50 Cal barrel blanks as do lots of other barrel makers. It's really not a big deal and you could even change...

That's one reason I live in New Mexico. Lots of public land where you can generally do whatever you want as long as you don't set it on fire. Not many opportunities like that in most other states.

The last two Redman liners I bought from Brownells had a visible seam in them. This is the 22lr ones, not the centerfire. Nevertheless they did shoot well once installed.
