They look like swaged bullets not cast. Swaged bullets come out smooth sided. Then groves are rolled into them. store bought full wad cutter bullets look like that. They may have some sort of wax as a lube. Like 22 RF bullets have. Leo

Even with antimony water quenching is erratic. The time difference between pouring and quenching varies. If your molds drop perfectly then the variations diminish. Anything that happens to allow one bullet to cool off more than another causes...

It's not hard to make a template. Set your press on a piece of cardboard, like an old cereal box. Use a pencil, put the point down in the mount holes. Draw a circle. Lift off press. Now you have a template. I Another guy on here made plates...

The Dillon Primer Pocket Swage is a good tool for removing the crimps on cases. That's what it is designed to do. It does nothing to remove primer residue or uniform pocket depth. Primer pocket uniformers are a cutter. The cutting is done just on...

NOE plugs are not expensive. I got both the sizes of 44 cal. That way I can try both and see which works better. NOE has a Forum. Have you tried reading through the posts there to see if anyone has any ideas? Or possibly contact NOE and ask which...

44magLeo replied to a thread Lee APP press in Reloading Equipment
I spent some time thinking about the APP press. I figured I ought to get one now when the price is not so much. I ordered it yesterday. If things go well it should be here by Wednesday or thereabouts. When I get it set up and use it a bit I'll...

My guess is that winelover has a rifle like mine. It has a bit larger bore and throat size than most revolvers. Mine likes bullets at .434. My molds drop bullets at about .4345. These shoot very well as cast. Just lube and load. No sizing. Leo

I'm in the like to feel them seat camp. Even if your primer pockets are not all the same depth the primers are all seated so the anvil and cup are both firmly in contact with the bottom of the pocket. I do have a Sinclair Primer Pocket Uniformer....

I picked up an older set of RCBS steel dies for 44 Mag. I heard that RCBS made a larger expander for the Cowboy dies, but when I called RCBS, the person I talked to said they were all the same. Then I looked it up in the parts book and saw they...

On measuring your slug with 5 grooves I think most any gun smith or machine shop can do it. With your .457 chamber mouth I would try a .457 or slightly larger as a first try. NOE can make a mold to your specs. It just may take awhile. They keep...

I think you can use a spacer ring that way. You may still need to adjust the dies to match your case length. If you have one set of 44S/44M dies Why buy another set of 44S dies? I was looking at the RCBS parts list. For the 44S, 44M and 44-40 the...

I agree on the heavy work of case reforming and some case sizing. For tough jobs the tighter fit is better. As mentioned some have different inner hole diameters and work best with that brands priming tools. Some brands are thicker from the...

It might work, but I have to ask one question, Why? 30-06 is about the easiest brass to find. No need to form 270 into -06. If you have a lot of 270 and no -06 then find someone to swap with. Leo

I've never had a case where I needed a small base die. I don't shoot semi-auto rifles except in 22FR. From what I understand military chambers can be cut a bit on the large side of the specs. This is done to help any cartridge made any where to...
