After lubing with Ben's Red, give the bullets a coat of Lee's Liquid Alox. it can be thinned with Johnson's Liquid Floor Wax. If done right it leaves a thin hard wax surface that won't get sticky. Leo

I have a Harbor Freight mic. it has the mechanical digital readout. The readout gets very close then I use the markings on the tumbler to be exact. The dial calipers I've had come from different places. Some are no name but have the seller's name...

44magLeo replied to a thread speed? in Cast Boolits
I don't shoot boolits that heavy in my 44's. A 265 gr bullet passes clear through everything I shoot it at. I've had good accuracy from lows speeds of around 500 fps up to 1900 fps in my Marlin rifle. I select a hardness that matches the speed....

30 cal gas checks are 30 cal gas checks. All the same. I shoot a Mosin Nagant and shoot boolits sized to .314 with 30 cal checks. They shhot fine. Under size boolits no matter the check size won't. Besides I don't think a check would hold on...

GWS, I did a bit of a mod to my APP so you don't mess with the long bolt. I put it up through the press and built spacers to hold the tube holder at the right height. I wrote it all up in one of the APP mod threads so I won't write it all here....

I don't know anything about Varget, never tried it. I have a Lyman D1000 and a Lee. They both deflect with a single grain of 4831 or 4350 powders. That's accurate enough for anything I'm shooting. I have a couple digital scales but don't...

I mentioned this before, my lead ladle. I made it from a short fat 1lb. propane bottle. I first took one out back and shot it with my 22. This vented the bottle. I then filled up my sink with lukewarm water, straight cold is a bit to cold, I then...

I have found that most of my feeding issues are adjustment related. As the instructions tell you if the cases feed early or late you need to adjust where the tube holder sets in comparison to the feeder. Once you get it right the cases fall straight...

On my Craftsman Tractor the weights were black plastic, sand filled. I don't recall the weight but they weren't much but did help. I had an old cinder block that was three holes long instead of two holes long like most. It had the holes full of...

Do you have more than what you pictured? Does the 5 indicate how much each ingot weighs? If so I think your a very lucky fellow. That is a hardener for your alloys. With something like that more is better. Leo

If BNE isn't testing right I tried to think of a way to get a better idea of the alloy in the wheel weights. I was running the smelter to test out my ladle I built out of a short fat 1lb. propane bottle by converting some of my small ingots into...

Thanks for the responses about BNE. As they have a BHN where it is I think it's mostly COWW. So that's how I will Use it. I had extra weight on my craftsman tractor when I had a snowplow on it. After three transmissions I took them off. Leo

Lee custom make the collet neck size dies. You send them a few fired cases and a few bullets then make one to match. last I checked they were $70 for the custom die. On the 7.62x54 die, it's been out a few months. I recently got the newest Lee...

I don't think Lee pots are just garbage. They are not expensive, some of their features are the way they are to keep the price at an affordable level. Could they build a pot costing two or three times as much, yes. but that would keep a lot of...

I recently ran across some garden tractor wheel weights. They are 10" in diameter and 3/4" thick. Doing the math they should weigh about 23-24 pounds if they are lead. They weigh about that on my bathroom scale. So I'm pretty sure they are a lead...
