About 10-15 years ago, wife and I were driving to Yellowstone. Occurred on the way that we probably weren't equipped for cold weather in Wyoming, being from Tennessee. We stopped at a Cabela's outlet in Nebraska. Got some warm coats and I ran...

Thanks for the tip. For some reason I never thought of classics on the Kindle. I'm kind of addicted to mysteries but sometimes need a change. Don't know if I will ever make it thru all 50(49?) but it will give me a wider choice of reading...

My mother was an elementary school teacher. She taught me the same things. Your post is the first mention I have seen concerning the use of "honing in" in place of "homing in". I was beginning to think that I had imagined saying "homing in" or...

At least "smelt" is a word no matter how much it deviates from the exact meaning. I've always sort of drawn up when someone uses the word "casted" for past tense of cast. I'm not going to fight that battle either.

Like several others we have Kindles. I'm somewhat addicted to mysteries, police dramas, etc. These books have no value to me after I've read them. I get most thru Kindle Unlimited which is a program of Amazon. For a monthly fee you can borrow...

alamogunr replied to a thread I voted! in Our Town
Wife and I voted this morning. Before leaving the house, she asked how to tell which ones to vote for because she wasn't familiar with the names of some running for state offices. I told her just to look for "Republican" beside the name.

Right in the middle of this pandemic the Mrs. and I "celebrated" 54 years. I used quotations because there wasn't much celebrating going on. Hopefully, 55 will be a magic number and we will CELEBRATE! Stay safe and healthy.

I never quite ran out of .22 ammo during the last shortage. When it started becoming available at decent prices, I started loading up. I would say I've got way more than I'll ever use. OR, maybe not. Regards primers, back before Obama was...

I found 99% alcohol online. Unfortunately, you may have to buy a gallon(in pint bottles). I have other uses than case lube so it is not a big disadvantage for me.

I sized and decapped a ton of .45 auto brass with a carbide die. I sprayed a bunch with a mix of alcohol/lanolin and mixed in one of the lubed cases about every 4th to 5th case. That made it very easy to fully size the short .45 case. I would...

When did SAECO change the #130 to 185 gr.? My 4 cavity mold and box both specify 185 gr. I prefer the MP clone of H&G 68 for 200 gr but I would like to try a 200 gr version of SAECO #130.

I bought four 7 rounders from CDNN. Haven't had time to try them. I'm hoping they work in the old Kimber.

There used to be a member here that made pots from propane tanks. I would have gotten one if I didn't already have a pot that I had a welder make from 12" diameter steel pipe(3/8" wall & bottom). Extends the melt time just heating up the pot. ...

I too used a Forstner bit in the drill press. Made the blocks from leftover hardwood flooring. Probably did the spacing of the holes the hard way. I cut spacers to the size I wanted between holes and placed them one at a time after drilling each...

I started out with the RCBS pad and lube. From there I tried the Imperial wax and liked it, especially for reforming cases. I use lanolin and alcohol on pistol cases. I know! Carbide dies eliminate the need for lube but it makes it a lot easier...

After I got my Dan Wesson ECP, which came with two 8 rounders, I ordered more 8 rounders from Ed Brown. Unlike the Checkmate magazines that came with the ECP, the DW mags stuck out of the grip by more than 3/8". I sent them back to EB and ordered...

I love my RCBS bench primer. I have it mounted to a piece of Micarta that I C-clamp to the bench when I want to use it. Yes! the handle extends out in front of the bench. When I'm not using it, I store it on a shelf above the bench.
