Now now, don't go knockin the Rossi's. I've been in and out of those too, and I own one. Love them 92's. Like the Marlins, everything that makes them rough and unweildy is due to an excess of material that can easily be stoned down. Many have said...

You're average booliteer has more weight variance than that in his castings as a matter of course (However, that doesn't mean those variations are off balance.). This just shows how little it takes to blow a group at high velocity. I have been...

I suppose another way to put it is: accross the board, over any firearm and any caliber/gauge, if I had my choice of best that any American gunmaker has produced, I would choose Winchester every time, and not think twice. But if I had my choice...

Thank you for posting those comments BjornB. Larry contacted me earlier this evening and requested that I delete both his attempts as he was unable to satisfactorily complete either of them. I'm glad the information was brought forward after all.

I've had my grubby hands all over the innards of these rifles. You want the truth? Here it is: I have seen loose and tight pre 64s I have seen loose and tight post 64s They all were better average quality than Marlin, except for those few...

Yeah, but a pig can't move his head like a deer can either. Not to be argumentative, and certainly things don't add up, but have you ever wrapped a bullet "proof" vest around an immovable object and had at it? It's relatively easy to shoot through...

I would just like to echo Longbows experience as well. Of course, I'm not shooting full house loads, but I have never had boolit setback ever, and I'm not a big fan of crimping in the first place. There's an aweful lot of boolit in that cartridge to...

I've done XRF testing of both these alloys (COWW and range scrap). the results have been surprisingly consistent. COWW is about 2.5% SB and lead across the board. I don't even measure it anymore. a random sample from a 200lb smelt has always...

I've done the same (sans dryer lint) and it worked great. if I were going to hunt with it, I'd use a 180ish grain boolit, lubed with 45/45/10, with a GC. I would cast out of COWW and drop them on a towel. Dead deer.

Because people who use FCDs on pistols are thinking that it's the same for rifles. For the record, the pistol style FCD is not necessarily a problem either. it's not the crimping part that sizes your boolits down, it's that doggon carbide ring...

You could chamber in 30 carbine, shoot lapping Boolits till you get to the muzzle, then rechamber in the cartridge of your choice so you have a good fresh throat, gain twist, and a slightly choked barrel to boot........

I agree, it's a test worth pursuing. Just gotta get somebody to pony up the $$$ for it. The big question is if the damage done to the boolit by the changing twist is less than that caused at the engraving event of a standard 10-12 twist. Only...
