Ball will work fine as long as you don't over charge. About 30-45 grains of FFg in a 50 will be about right. You will need to experiment a little and see what works best but for 25-50 yard target work or small game the light loads will work just...

The Remington NMA is a stronger gun but the Colt Army is a better feeling gun in my hand. The 1860 if fed moderate loads will run over 3000 rounds before it needs tightening. My current favourite for TARGET shooting is a Rogers and Spencer as they...

When I built my target rifle I had the barrel cut with a matching pistol barrel. I built the guns together and thy shot for target the same load ball and patch and powder. The pistol had a belt hook and was the only additional item I carried.

You can make one easy enough from a 45 acp case. Heat anneal and drill for the nipple shank and swedge it out to a cone. My lefty son used one all the time.

Windy Bill Hamilton was called that for a reason. There are many errors in the book and this is one. Although as I get older it is harder and harder to remember just when things happened 50 or more years ago.

I Hate underhammers... Back in about 1976 we had this sharp eyed kid buy a cheap H and A underhammer and join our club. Soon this kid with a $40 rifle was outshooting al of us some who were shooting $500 dollar custom guns. That little stubby...

What is seldom discussed is the problem of the ctg. The 110 will be triing if not painful in long stings at target and is more difficult to load down than the smaller 45-70 or 45-90. In addition the dies and cases are much more spendy. Having had...

The small ring Mauser is not so dangerous because it won't handle pressure although it is a rated 45.000 psi and the 308 will run 50 or more. The small ring doesn't have the safety lug or the gas venting unless it has been converted. We will only...
