Could have just as well dipped the gun in vinegar! Citric Acid removes blue form guns.

Test test test, until you actually shoot you don't know what the pattern will be. Sometimes too tight a choke will spread buckshot patterns. I have had good luck with a standard model 12 and Winchester fixed modified choke. When we drove coyote...

Since I shoot mostly Holy Black I test with and without a crimp and for neck tension in my single shot rifles and note which shoots best. I find that with Paper patch just a slight crimp is best and in the same rifle no crimp with naked lead.

Things, ammo too, were never cheap! I remember buying 22's 10 at a time form a big wooden crate as that was all I could afford. When most centerfire ammo sold for 50 cents a box of 50 wages were a dollar a day! It seems cheap now because our...

Most of that powder is just blowing out the muzzle of the gun. Shoot that load over snow and the excess powder will be dotting the landscape.

You might want to start with the gun as over 2" groups at 25 yards from a rest is not real good. Rested the K38 should do that or better at 50 yards. Make sure all the leading is out of the barrel and see if the groups shrink any.

Somewhat rough inside and the barrels are variable, some good some bad. I have had 3 in the shop and two were just fine albeit not real smooth and the third wouldn't shoot a 4" group at 40 yards. Barrel off center and a bad crown. I wouldn't buy...

For small game 15 grains of FFFg is plenty if your accuracy will hold up. I shot a ton of squirrels and 25 yard target with just 12 grains. I swabbed every 3 shots anyway as loading got stiff and I was never in tht much of a hurry.

690 will maybe just clear the choke but it won't with any patch. Use a base ad and then a top wad. If you leave the choke in you should be accurate enough for 40 yards or so. A well loaded M/L with a tight patch ball combo will do to over 70...

Try Redman for a barrel in short twist they have liners in the right twist. Or just use a junk barrel and reline it, a good reline will shoot as good or better than the original barrel.
