I am staying at home full time, waiting for the next of a long line of honey-do's to appear. SHE has calculated that my time belongs to HER. My time, efforts and patience are taking a beating, but at my own pace which is very casual during these...

Happy days! I sent the rifle to Ruger and they lived up to their "5-7" day return projection. Now this rifle moves cartridges smoothly from the magazine into the chamber. What a great feeling that the manufacturer can take in and turn around a...

I love the vintage J-frame S&W's. My choice for grips is the original wood stocks with a Tyler's T-grip added to fill up the hand. I got started on the Tyler's many years ago and they still fit my hand like before. Best of all they are still...

If I had your mold I would cast with WW alloy, PC them, size and load. Sounds like the perfect opportunity to delve into the PC opportunities.

I got this mold from a friend about 10 years ago. The friend who provided it to me is not a caster. He got the mold from an estate sale and sent it my way. The design of this 2X mold did nothing to excite me - a smallish SWC nose, 2 loob grooves...

I loaded several rounds of .38 S&W (not Special) to test group size and shot placement (relative to the sights). The test firearm is a Colt Police Positive (Bankers Special). Red dot powder, Winchester primers, and boolits from 3 different molds. ...

I saw an article once where someone was asking how to make venison steaks more tender. The reply was to take them out of the freezer and let them thaw about half way, then freeze them again. Repeat this a second time, then one more time for a...

In November I bought a Ruger American Rimfire rifle (22 LR) and immediately had problems with it. When trying to move ammo from the magazine that came with the rifle the bolt would not flow to the closed position. From the rear position I could...

The Lady and I will celebrate our 50th anniversary this July. We started taking a year on how to celebrate this milestone and agreed on a cruise - just for the two of us. Now the world has turned on its ear that plan has evaporated and we are...

My interest in the older manuals includes the loading data they present. I rarely use their data but enjoy reading comparable data for the discontinued powders. The bonus is to have photos of bullet molds. I have most of the Speer manuals, also...

Not a recent purchase but an estate find from a few years back that I am finally getting around to making it ready to go to work. The mold is a 2 cavity Ideal 360271 (150 grain SWC) that had been abused by previous owners. The top of the blocks...

I used to think about these mold styles as the frugal shooter's answer to several needs at minimal expense. Years ago I acquired two H&G sets of mold blocks and both had one each of different cavities cut in them. The cavities in these include: ...

The story of alloy hardness came home to me recently. I have been testing various boolit loads in a Savage Sporter 25-20 for a while and got pedestrian groups. Jacketed bullets were the same story. Then came the day I tried water dropping my...

Mike, if your rifle is inside the warranty zone by all means send it back for correction. If out of warranty, I suggest replacing the cartridge guides. Only recently we had a Ranch Hand come in that refused to feed up from the lifter to the...

Here is a second vote for you (or someone who knows how) to completely remove the entire fire pin assembly from the bolt. Clean all parts that exit the bolt, then the inside of the bolt. Reassemble and test. Hope this get you where you want to be.

I have run into .38 S&W sizing dies that are, as stated above, the same diameter as .38 Special sizing dies. To get past this irritation I bought a Lee carbide sizing die for the Super 38 cartridge. This die is the correct diameter for the .38 S&W...

I cast some .25 caliber 90 grain boolits using an Ideal tong tool that recently came my way. My other .25 molds include weight ranges of 69RF, 75RN and 77RF, all GC. The tong mold is in the original and classic weight for the 25-20 cartridge I am...
