tazman replied to a thread Cost of ammo in Cast Boolits
That is exactly what I did after the last shortage. I'm good for quite a while.

I need a certain amount of ammo ready to shoot each week. I am also in the group for maximizing time away from wife(at times anyway). My Lee Classic Cast Turret gives me enough ammo and enough time away to keep me shooting and relatively sane. It...

tazman replied to a thread Remington 514 in Rimfire Area
Judging from pictures posted online, the rear of the bolt and the safety mechanism are significantly different. I have never handled a 514 that I am aware of.

Sorry, but I haven't been looking for them. I still have enough to run me for at least another four years at current consumption rates not including loaded ammo.

I use 38 short colt data in 9mm brass for light loads. The cases are nearly identical in length and the starting loads should easily exit the barrel. The ones I tried shot well in my 929. With the porting on the 929 barrel, there is little recoil...

I have done that a few times. Went ahead and fired them with the rest of the 9mm. The pistols never noticed the difference.

Most manuals recommend .750. I don't bother to trim mine. Never had an issue with length. If they act similar to 45ACP brass, they will shorten as they are fired over time.

The one I currently own will shoot as well as I can see and hold with the iron sights. I could undoubtedly get it to shoot better if I mounted a scope, but that isn't why I purchased the rifle.

50+ years ago, I had a 510 and wanted a scope on it. Someone, I believe it was Weaver, mad a mount that was bolted/screwed to the side of the receiver since there were no scope mount grooves on the receive top. Mine was done by a gunsmith and...

tazman replied to a thread A Mini-14 Discussion in Factory Rifles
I have to wonder how much, if any, their opinions would have shifted if they had all the new, quality optics and rifles/cartridges that have been made available the last 10-15 years?

Back in the late 60s and all the 70s my father, who ran an auto salvage business, used S&K wrench sets. They had a lifetime warrantee. I took a couple of them back to a dealer when they broke. I was using a 2 foot cheater bar on the end of a...

The company I retired from after 42 years, made the ball pein hammers for Snap On the entire time I worked there. They had a lifetime guarantee that we backed up. I assume they still do since it was a point of pride for the company. The company...

I was a member of a pistol club in Macomb Il for a short time. We shot some target matches(slow, timed, and rapid fire). I once took a 44 mag Blackhawk and shot it during the match. It was all one handed. I almost didn't have time to finish the...
