A permanent solution includes tightening the spru plate screw when the mold is hot. Not to tight. Just right. Carefully, so you do not get burned, scribe a line down the face of the spru plate screw-head toward the set screw hole. This...

I test one bullet "incrementally", 3-shot groups, in 0.5 grain powder charge weight increases to start. I get an "accuracy curve" that when plotted looks THEORETICALLY like this: Powder charge (in grains) on the "X" axis and measured...

If reloads on bullets that head space on the case neck, a taper crimp that allows the bullet to seat slightly forward into the chamber will result in weak firing pin strikes and the occasional Failure To Fire.

I have powders from estates that date from the 70's (each was marked with its date of purchase). All cans are sealed tightly and that powder is still good today. I use the published data that was "right" for the period in which my powder was made....

Cold spru plates often account for high reject rates. The lead has to first traverse the spru plate and then warm the mold, both of which lead to wrinkles. Heat the spru plate more as the mold is likely to heat as well. Reject rate should...

Land Owner replied to a thread Help Needed in Cast Boolits
I have a 2-cav aluminum 22 Bator mold. It is finicky if I do not pre-heat the spru plate very well. The lead has to pass a "cool spot" through the spru plate, so it is important to get that part hot. My reject rate has gone down as a result.

These 380 cal. Ranch Dog boolits drop about 104 grains, (say) 10 BHN air cooled from my alloy and 6-cav. mold, shoot to point of aim at 10 yards from a pair of Walther PPK, and "vaporize" with a satisfying "ping" when propelled into hardened plow...

NICE visual chart dragon813gt! I weigh each of my cast 22 Bator boolits and have stockpiles segregated by weight (retirement time is what I have, an investigative mind, and I certainly don't mind the tinkering). I get a "bell curve" of boolits (by...
