Roughing Up RB's, Part II: I returned from the range a little while ago after retesting .604" Lyman (pure lead) RB's roughed up between 2 files. (See post #1 and attached pic). Alas, today's results weren't quite as good (see pic below), which...

I have certainly used my 60-4 over the years. It is the perfect “side gun” carried crossdraw while bird hunting with a shotgun. I have taken a bushel basket of cottontails, snowshoe rabbits and the ocasional wounded grouse with that fine piece. ...

Greg, I sometimes use a hollow stick version of Bore Butter (made by Ox Yoke years ago & purchased at a ridiculously low price) for both rifle & revolver CB's. As it works quite well, I don't why you couldn't do the same with T/C's product. Let...

Rick, I have a Williams SS Ruger Bisley .45 ACP/.45 Colt Convertible. I reamed both cylinders to .4525”, then had my local pistolsmith, Jack Basham, do a trigger job and Free Spin Pawl. It now shoots like a bullseye gun regarding accuracy. ...

carbine, I think Nick posted a video about that in this section in either December '17 or January '18. As I don't have a drill press and didn't want to use an electric drill, I opted for rolling a RB between two coarse files.

bbb, Thanks for the compliment and trust me, that grouping was ~1/3 tighter than I got with the same RB, but as cast. As for a bore sized mold, which in my case would be .615", I'd buy one in a minute...if I could find one. Ditto for a .610" mold,...

Some gasket material contains metal, which might not be good for your barrel. Some people use a paper wad over the flash hole to keep powder out. They think it improves the ignition.

varsity...., While that may be true, I've tried those .604" x .601" RB's, both patched, and bare several times and got much poorer results than I got today. Whether it would work on the Lee or Tanner RB's (.598" - .599) is not really an issue, as...

I'm sure many of you have read that roughing up aroundball between 2 coarse files is supposed to improve accuracy (same aerodynamic theory as dimples on a golf ball). Several months ago I did that to a bunch of Lyman .600" RB's (.601" x .604" in...

Aaron, It can be done, but it is a slow, trial & error (hopefully not the latter!) process. Btw, I just did one two weeks ago using the same method as in enlarging a Lee sizing die (use this site's search function for how to's if you need them) and...
