ATF and Acetone 50/50 is what I saw tested By Mechanics Illustrated etc as beating Liquid Wrench and the rest. Ed's has it all and gets used a lot of places but I keep 50/50 ATF and Acetone in a Spot Sprayer for tough bolts, etc. It holds pressure...

Tip the mixer to the point that lead ALMOST exits with the water. The mixer action will release most of the clay and the outflow of water will carry it away. I used this method on several tons of range scrap in dense NC red clay. The resulting...

I see a piece of lead below the lower pin, second pic, on the block face, could be holding the mold halves apart.

Odorless Mineral Spirits are legal in California but not LA. You can check the home depot site for the closest store with the real stuff. I had the can in my hand today so I looked it up. You can buy Odorless Mineral Spirits in Monterey county....

I have had the banana, and it was awesome. I think they just soak some bananas in it for a while, and you get fine bits of banana suspended in the shine. I had grape that was the same way. Had little floaties in it.

Looks great! The Nigri is one of my favorites. They have one at my favorite Chinese restaurant called "Shaggy Dog" roll. It has a "mane" made of imitation crab sliced in to fine ribbons on top, with yum yum sauce over that.

I've started my day with coffee for over 73 years that I can remember. The only exception being three mornings before surgeries, but I made up for it before dinner. It's not a matter of want or desire, it's a necessity for everyone within...

I bought regular mineral spirits at Home Depot for my last batch and it was clear petroleum base. Monterey County, Ca. ATF smells like hypoid oil now so I switched that part to Marvel Mystery Oil. I can smell too!

Tight throats are common on 629s. Mine were closer to .428". That is still larger than a .429" groove when you include the metal displaced by the lands. The throats were designed for jacketed bullets and were within S&W Specs. It should shoot ok...

I don't have that option. I've tried both Safari and Chrome to open the app. I've seen screenshots of what the page is supposed to look like, though.

There was no good way other than those ingots to feed the pot so I think most shops had molds and a "smelting furnace". I remember a pressman moaning. He ordered a pallet of linotype ingots rather than recycling slugs and the price of lino had gone...

I think the furnace in question was for recycling type slugs. The Linotype Machines had an electric pot and an electric motor and if I remember right plugged into a 120v outlet. The linotype ingots (pigs) had ears that hooked onto the chainfall that...

As a boy, we used to burn car bodies to melt the lead off for race cars. The ground in that area was like pavement. There is a Wally World there now.

Coins usually cost a premium over spot related to the grade and number struck. There is also always the unknown factor of how many have been melted. Silver rounds and bars of recognized source cost only a stated value over spot. The...
