I've now found that oiling the abrasive pad patches works better. I used ATF which has a detergent in it, for better or worse. I gave my pig gun the treatment as this was leading with every shot, even low pressure loads. Now it doesn't. The...

Riding bikes to Prudhoe is a big thing in the summer, But believe it or not I met one a few years ago in Febuary. I had heard snippets about him and the temp being 29 below at Prudhoe when he left on the radio. I met him at Galbreth and the temps...

I don't think he would want to be caught with a gun on the field at all, at least not if he ever thinks he wants to come back. lol I have a friend that got lost in a blow on an ice road a few years ago, I don't remember if he was heading to...

starmac replied to a thread Buffalo hunt in Hunting with CB's
I believe that the buffalo hunters of old, used the very best they had available, and no doubt would use the what they considered the best if they were hunting them right now, in this day and time. I like the old calibers and arms myself too, but...

The brass wool would not polish the steel. My bores are mostly rust roughened, hense my attempt to polish them up. I plan on loading up and taking an interesting gun, a martini 303 carbine on a MkI action with a lightweight sporter stock.

starmac replied to a thread FFL required?? in Our Town
I would think this all depends on the state, no ffl needed here, but in some states they are required, heck some states may not even allow them to be sold.

I would use the chamber area as im betting this is a bunch thicker and enough meat to get a whole thread depth for the nipple. The rest should be thick enough and plenty strong for any black powder load. (( you are going to use black powder eh?))

I do not know about growing, but I see them up north at times. I am not sure about protected on the mainland either, as you can hunt them, probably like drawing a buffalo tag though.
