Thanks for the thumbs up, Dan. Bill, I've done most of my testing into a 'test tube' so depending on velocity, I catch the patch fragments. With heavier loading and I find very little patch remnants. The catch medium is rubber tyre grounds...

Years ago I wanted to try zinc boolits for my Brit. The idea being that it needs a decent size boolit so zinc being lighter and stronger would give me fit, strength and high velocity. Well, I never got that far so it's great seeing someone...

I pulled them. Not going to chance shooting them over anything other then 65 grains or so of Ol E 2F blackpowder ... muzzle loaded in my 48 twist 45 cal rifle. That is their designed use anyway. Time on my hands is not really my friend.

The oil can be removed by soaking with paint thinners or boiling in water with dishwashing liquid. I've done both and both worked but it takes a while for wet wood to dry out and return to normal dimensions. Thinners takes time with repeated wiping...

Wayne, all this is as it should be for the weapon it was intended to be mounted on. Namely the 03-A3 Springfield chambered in the old 30-06 round. I also think it would be a cool settup mounted on a BPCR ... but as you point out ... it will not...

I use Lil'Gun in my hornet and it does heat the barrel (and the suppressor). I do compress the charge (a lot). It makes my hornet into a super hornet using R-P cases in my oversize chamber. A 55gr bullet at 2740 fps is not too shabby for a...

Nothing wrong with original iron sights. I'm leaning back toward irons. I've achieved MOA at 110 yds with old style Martini Henry sights - equivalent to the half inch at 50 yds.

Interesting. I once thought briefly about loading my 1860 with .454 boolits backwards so they would load straight. BUT ... then I began contemplating gas cutting around the tapered nose and did not try it because of uncertain pressure.

I would bet that that load would lead terribly. Think gas cutting on the rear boolit because of the smaller nose and tapered nose. CLOSE?
