NSB replied to a thread hang fire at the range in Factory Rifles
I've seen true hang fires before on a couple of occasions. In every case there was a delay, but it was something like a second or less. If you actually had a six second delay I'd suspect that it was the firing pin in the bolt hanging up some way. I...

Never heard of it happening and I've been shooting for over sixty years and I'm met literally thousands of different shooters from all over the world. I guess something happened, but I don't think it was spontaneous combustion.

If it was me, I'd take that Henry single shot and ream it to .357max. Bellm or Dave White can do it for you pretty easily. You'll then have the opportunity to use a few powders that work better in the gun than h110. Nothing wrong with that powder,...

Yeah, it's the wrong diameter for a rifle. It's .452" pistol bullet, not 458" rifle bullet.

I'm not sure how its a "bit to fast for the 556", there are lots of published loads for it. I've loaded both H4198 and IMR4198 and it works well providing excellent accuracy in my guns. I've found powders that provided better accuracy with different...

Lots of looking but not much buying. I'll make a one time price reduction...a good one, and if it doesn't go I'll put it in the back of the safe with all the other stuff I'll probably never use again. How about $500 for the barrel, base, and the...

NSB replied to a thread winchester highwall in Single Shot Guns
Lots of things change over time. Usually it because better methods and materials are developed and after a while it's not an "original". If I could trade my Miroku made "Winchester" right now for an original 1800's era rifle I personally wouldn't do...

I got this barrel to shoot 125-160 grain bullets and ordered it with a 1:20 twist. It seems to be just about right for what I got it for. Different load testing at 100 yards (actually 114 yards, my deck to backstop).

I have a near mint custom built MGM Encore .357 Max barrel for sale. It's a 24" Heavy Factory Taper with Barbed Wire black cerakote fluting. I'll sell the barrel with or without the custom black cerakote finished 6-hole Pictinney base. This barrel...

No issues. You'll probably never recover a bullet with that load. I'm still waiting to recover one after about a dozen kills with several guns in this caliber. It makes a big hole no matter what bullet you use. I've yet had one go over twenty yards,...

If offers me outstanding accuracy in all my 45-70 guns with minimal recoil. As to why it's not idea.

Never give up. My BIL went through all of this and had stents, defibrillator/pacemaker, by-pass, and finally a new heart. He seemed to be getting worse all the time. Today he's back to his old self (other than taking a handful of pills each day)....

Holograph has no advantage. I've had both and prefer red dot. When holograph sights first came out a lot of pros tried them and most went back to red dots. I can shoot very small groups at longer distances with any of my red dots with a 3 or even 4...

Oregon Trail bullets are available in both .458" and .459".....which one are you shooting? Also, as mentioned above, lower the velocity or use gas checked bullets. I've gotten "decent" accuracy from Oregon Trail bullets, but at much lower velocities.
