As I have gotten older (I'll be 79 in August) I've been reflecting back on time and thinking about guns and other gun related things I have gotten rid of. I had a refinished Victory model 10 that I payed $90.00 for, there worth a lot of money...

Lyman top punch # 413. This is according to Lymans Cast Bullet handbook 4th. edition. I have used it on that same bullet but it has been so long ago I don't remember if it left a ring.

I think the reason they are not frosted is because of the size of the mold in relation to the size of the boolit. These small boolits don't heat up the mold as much as larger boolits do. They still got hot enough to sizzle when they hit the water.

The 8 was an accident in typing, sorry I didn't catch that.

The 8 does not belong in the heading that was a typeO. I cast up some Lee 225 55 gr. 6 cavity, and I used straight COWW and about 3 oz tin in a 10 # Lee bottom pour pot and water droped. My temp was running about 750 to 800, nice shiny boolits. I...

Just finished casting 500 plus, 225 55gr Lee six banger. My alloy is straight COWW with about 3 oz of pewter (Tin) in a 10 # Lee bottom pour pot. I probably have at least a 10 percent reject. This is a new mold that I've had for about a year. Washed...

I have a factory Nickle plated pre model 29 44mag Smith and Wesson, and it has never showed any signs of tarnish of any kind. It has been setting in my safe for over a year now and yesterday I went out to get some personal papers and it was just...

45-70 Chevroner replied to a thread Why lever guns in Leverguns
Hear hear! For all you lever lovers. I have four. I haven't owned a bolt gun for about 20 years now. I sold it two my son, well actually almost gave it to him. I shoot my lever guns more than anything I have. I have given 20 or more of my guns to my...

I use Comet cleanser and a tooth brush, then rense good then clean with dish soap. Doing this even with a new mold gives me perfect boolits right from the start. My feeling is that your mold is just dirty.

The one in the right front corner looks slightly bulge and in my experience that is caused by trim length, it only takes a few thousands to cause that.

I have one that was made in the 1950s and it had cut rifling, I say had, because I sent it back to marlin in 2006 and had them put a 38-55 barrel on it. Marlin had a program for a short time and for $280 they would do the whole job including a new...

If your Marlin is actually a 1940s model it has regular cut rifling.

Adding more powder will only make them shoot higher. A lite bullet Will almost always shoot higher to the sights when it is sighted in for a heavier bullet, at least in my experience. Reducing powder especially when shooting them in a rifle can...
