Thanks. I wasn't planning on using corn meal because of the bottle neck, but backer rod wasn't on the list either. I can see how that would work well though! Pulled the trigger on a very nice Snider, now for the wait. I have a mystery alloy I...

I actually sent him an email last night, and will be going in that direction. The price of his 577/450 brass has me thinking of picking up two old rifles to add to the collection.

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to be shooting a proper british Snider. I see a lot of people recommending a .600 diameter or larger bullet regardless of where the rifle came from. I did see a video of a guy loading 577 Snider and he did exactly...

I've searched, but I'm curious about one thing. I have heard where guys will form 577 Snider without dies, but rather cutting down 24ga brass cases to the desired length, and fire-forming the brass with a 58 Caliber Minie ball or a slug, and then...

tmanbuckhunter replied to a thread Why lever guns in Leverguns
I guess because they're just flat out fun and take me back to another time and place. New guns and bolt action sporting rifles don't interest me at all. Don't get me wrong, I have a few, including an AR, and I like them, but they're like appliances....

I just don't understand it. There are so many other sources of lead and alloy out there, that to me, it makes no sense to run the risk of contaminating everything with Zinc. Wheel weights aren't even a consideration for me anymore.

186 actually. One cavity drops 185, one drops 186, both cavities drop bullets +/- 3/10ths or so. I don't weight sort any tighter. Man, considering that the same charge weight had similar numbers and performance out of both guns, it shows I'm...

Recently acquired an older Lyman 311332 a few weeks ago. I cast up a decent pile of boolits and squeezed some NRA 50/50 into the grooves with a Sage's gas check. Loaded them over mildly increasing charge weights of 5744. Most groups were very...

I have several molds from Tom, and will be ordering two more here shortly. His products are outstanding. I ordered my first iron mold from him as well recently for my 444 Marlin and that is the route I will go from now on.
