I would jump 'outside the box'...and choose a 41 Mag. some folks like the 43 mag, but if you are considering a Levergun, the 43 just has so many issues that are solved with the 41.

Those look similar to typical "Linotype pigs" but not exactly. Google "Linotype Pig" and click images. all the images I seen when I just googled that are the typical PIG and none were shaped exactly like the ones in the ad. I would be cautious...

As I see it, you are either gonna have stability, or you are not. If you don't get the correct spin out of the barrel, the bullet will just become less stable as time passes. I gotta ask, what is a "slimmer boolit"

My table is against the North wall, in the center. The main entry is on the south side, so when you enter, just keep walking straight through the middle of the arena, to the north wall. I assume you aren't interested in the powder, right?

Be careful when sizing a boolit down that much (about .010"). Depending on technique, Sizing a boolit down that much will likely deform it in a undesired way.

As I understand it, the only measurable shrinkage of 30/1 (as well as other Pb/Sn alloys) occurs during Freeze or moments/seconds afterward. Once it's cooled to room temp, you have no worries about applying lube...and loading/shooting.

If your goal is to push a cast boolit at typical cast boolit speeds, to dispatch a Deer, then Pressure is the one thing to worry about if you are thinking of using a soft-ish alloy. Click on the link below and scroll down about 1/3 of the way, to...

you can size and lube right away. While different alloys act differently, it is likely that nothing is going to effect your 45/70 boolits in the short term. Tell us what your alloy is & your casting technique, and someone will likely chime in with...

Some of my pistol boolits are lubed in a Lyman lubesizer...those I want a FB. BUT, some are TL with 45-45-10 or BLL, I prefer BB boolits for that. some of Lee's TL boolit molds have a BB, those are my first choice.

I am not understanding exactly what Lee tools you have? You mention "speed", are you using Lee's Speed Dies? If so, you will probably have to hone out the die body, but it will be a tricky...

I use notebooks. I keep a log for every casting session, so all my boolits have a batch number, so I can go back to my notebook and confirm alloy and age and sometimes I take several hardness readings over the age. Some stuff gets loaded right...

I would think there is a "speed Limit"? ...of course I could be wrong. I do have a story, some years ago, I was gifted some Home-swaged 243 (22LR jackets) rifle bullets. I loaded them to a pet load of mine for commercial jacketed bullets, and I...

I moved your post to a better area. I think it's best to use a shotgun style slug if you aren't going to use a sabot. Typically, 358 boolits are used with sabots for 410 shotgun slug ammo. here is an excellent tutorial on that....

This is my take on it... What makes a heat treated boolit more accurate than a boolit of the same alloy that isn't heat treated? The answer is boolit deformation due to pressures that are higher than the non-heat treated boolit can stand....

Sounds like it's time to buy a cheap small chain saw, maybe an electric one? and a chain with small teeth. A lube like Turpentine or kerosene sounds like an excellent idea too.

45 gr may be kind of light (and short) to stabilize in the typically fast twist AR's I like 60gr. I have a HM mold that's designed for the AR that I like the best. I also have a NOE clone of the RCBS 22-055...which drops at 60gr, which works...
