I just finished writing the check for my two yards. This time of year sometimes it's 3 times in 2 weeks. We've had 2 days in the last 12 without rain, and the grass loves it. Rain doesn't get rid of the airborne pollen either, my nose proves that.

That's also the source of the brass chips many blame on SS pin tumbling. Until I started wet tumbling I religiously used a flash hole de-burr bit.

Dunno, Jmort--internal and external ballistics is a pretty exact science, but terminal ballistics remains a poorly-understood art form. The bullet tech is better than it was 50 years ago, but I don't try to predict terminal performance. My...

If all things are equal, that will be the case. But I noted some variance when chronographing the 125 grain J-words a few years ago. The 686 x 4" has a cylinder/forcing cone gap of .003"--the pre-27 x 6.5" has an 011" gap. Most loads that I have...

    Bent Ramrod-- 32/20 WCF firearms appear in some number at my house. A 1906-made Colt Bisley x 4-3/4" (inherited), a 1920-made Army Special x 5", a pre-war S&W M&P x 5", and a 2004 Marlin 94 CCL with 20" octagon barrel. If there is a better...

BBB--I am just glad that Uberti didn't install a cross-bolt Rem 870/Marlin levergun safety on their SAA repros. I can ignore things of that sort, but Hillary Holes in S&W wheelguns and like/similar superfluous speed bumps are a mild irritation.

What Newtire says! I'm in the process of sizing lubing about 1500 cast bullets, cast 2 weeks ago in about a 3 hour session. All for the .40 S&W. That process will take some hours before I can load and shoot. Using LBT (Lead Bullet...

My only Uberti Cattleman experience involves revolvers in 44/40 WCF and 45 Colt. In a word, flawless. I will buy others. The "safety" in my late 2012 44/40 is the base pin--push it inward about 3/16", and it catches the hammer before it strikes...

Ordered some 303 British brass from Graf & Sons just now. Shuffling through the ammo cabinets and gun safe to figure out what I am taking to NCBS. Stuff to shoot, maybe a few things to sell, yadda yadda. Test-drove some 10/22 magazine loaders I...

Walks-- Specific to the 357 Magnum levergun question--I would have loved to buy either a Miroku/Winchester 1892, or a Marlin 1894C with the side-gate, but both have been unobtainium for several years. I got tired of waiting on gunmakers or...

I am getting things pre-set for the NCBS trip, and I dived into the ammo cabinets to inventory the 8 x 57 Chow. Good news--200 of the Lee 175 loaded, using 18.0 grains of 2400--and 50 of the 236 grain Cruise Missiles from the Lee group buy that...

That sounds reasonable, Nick39. My goal was to match my carry rounds as closely as possible. These loads extracted easily, and my impression was that I still had a little "gas pedal" left if I chose to go there. About 5 years ago, the shop went...

My old duty load in 357 Magnum was the W-W Super-X 158 grain JHP, which gave about 1235 FPS from my S&W 686 x 4". I assembled practice loads using Lyman #358156 seated to crimp in the upper crimp groove atop 13.5 grains of 2400, and these clocked...

^^^ this! ^^^ 45 Colt (Ruger) with #454424 or #454490 running 1050-1100 FPS. This will be my handgun & load for the 2018 deer season--the final year that lead bullets can be used to hunt with in CA. Even varmints. Time to move, for sure.

Good summation of my view, Erik. Some of these hobby-related "innovations" just leave me shaking my head. 9mm brass is already dimensionally-poetic enough in its usual form, this sort of departure is just annoying.

I thought sure this was going to be instructions on decorating with toilet paper. You know, there is a proper way to throw a roll so it unwinds and hangs on every branch, or at least thats what I'm told. Not that I have any experience.

Where did this sea of clover come from? My lawn was manicured Friday and again this morning it looks like it snowed. Are aliens sewing it at night?
