Good. I figured at most the bulge needed to be only a thou or two smaller and it would chamber all of the time. Seating out was one way to do that, using thinner(?) brass is another way, Squishing the bulge with a FCD was another way. Like it...

Soft Lead? can you get at it from the "open bottom" with a chain saw? (plunge cuts) after a few cuts with the chain saw, maybe a little cold chisel work to remove some pieces. That's my 2

Since I cast, I choose Cast. If I was buying them for "target loads" and not competition, I'd buy whatever is cheaper. Powder coated? If I knew the person doing the coating knows what they are doing, then I'd choose powder coated.

Sounds typical of modern mfgr's barrels, ZERO throat to speak of. Even SAAMI chamber specs call for freebore before the leade ins begin but since the only ammo that anyone shoots anymore is factory store bought stuff, they don't need any throat if...

Hmm. What weight are those? The FCD is intended to iron out bulges in the outside of the case. It has a carbide ring in the bottom that slides down over the assembled round, sizing down any bulges. You would probably need one custom made to the...

May we see a pic of the boolit by itself? What brass is this? I thought I would never live to see the day I would be in favor of a carbide sizer like the Lee FCD has, but this is down to a math problem the FCD would fix. It's obvious that there...

.431" + 2x case neck thickness (assuming they are .011" or close, Starline averages .011") of .022" = .453" I could not find a chamber drawing for 44 Special, but SAAMI specs for the cartridge itself lists .456" as the diameter at the case mouth...

I would contact their customer support, that is NOT supposed ot happen. You may have gotten a bad batch of ammo. I would not shoot any of those until you have resolved the issue with Federal.

You don't mention whether you size your boolits or use them as cast, It sounds to me like boolits are larger than they need to be. A slight bulge with a cast boolit is a good thing, since crimping alone will not give consistent ignition, you need...

Those checkering files are for layout purposes more than finishing the job. You use the 40lpi file to establish the pattern, then use a fine cut triangular file to deepen the lines. When my eyes were many years younger, I did a LOT of metal...

Bullplate is easy to clean up with just dish soap. I agree with Springfield...and I suspect your mold isn't hot enough, you need to cast faster.

Some Italian clones, old Colts, front sights were thin and basically mild steel, easy to bend and the silver solder was very strong. Ruger front sights are thick, and that stainless is STOUT. The front sight blade is MUCH stronger than the solder...

Texas By God not to steer the thread but you got me curious as to what my 10.5" 300BO weighed after it is all finished. Magpul Gen II sights, Magpul sling, 30rds of 220gr subsonic, 7lbs 14.4oz pretty pleased with the end result.

My son uses those in Florida, they work. My GF has a spayed feral kitty that lives in the shed, she feeds it and gives it a good bed, and the kitty has rid the yard of moles and hunts in the neighbors yard too.

I tried that with a RCBS 2 cav mold, using spacers, it didn't work for me, still was loosy goosey. I bought the correct RCBS handles to solve that problem. BUT one thing I thought of, but didn't try, was to weld sheet steel to the thin tongs, to...

The metal part of the Lee two cavity handles are much thinner and will not work with MP molds.

Or you can order them from Lee for $1.50 each https://leeprecision.com/parts/bullet-casting/hand-gun-bullet-molds/bullet-mold-double-cavity/dc-tl356-124-2r-parts/ They will need to be drilled out some, to fit the 6-cav metal hinge.

This could be solely attributed to the gun itself. Tripplebeards, I asked this earlier and got no response, guess it got lost in the shuffle. When you dry fire the unloaded gun, what do the sights do? Can you dry fire and hold them perfectly...
