Here's how the Stomperud fits together. This is after opening and closing the door a few times. As you can see the little leaf on the pin is actually resting on the magazine tension spring instead of the recess in the receiver. There's room to...

36.5gr of the Hybrid 100v shot some pretty good groups for me with NOE 311365 @ around 2000fps. Fired with a magnum primer, pressure was fairly low, cast bullet friendly. That was out of my Krag, capacity is fairly close between the two...

The guys that were shooting the small artillery pieces at Washtenaw a few years back were mostly using Varget, in cases smaller than the .308. Heavy 30 caliber bullets, most at around 2000fps, most cast with lino.

Hmm, the hollowpoints. I thought I may have been shooting the solids cause the two shots on the right went through the drywall I had the target mounted to and passed through a 5" diameter buckeye tree, about in the middle! Noticed that today while...

A new magazine spring might put enough tension on the pin to keep it from going forward. The flipping up I've fixed on US Krags by very carefully bending the leaf spring of the pin so that it engages better in the notch of the receiver. It can be...

That's one thing I noted about my Stomperud. The action has been worked enough that some of the black phosphate coating is wearing off the bolt. It appears the root of the bolt handle is bearing more than the locking lug and guide rib are. Maybe...

Back when they were making those .308s, the importer also had some Boehler Steel barrels made in what's stamped on mine, .243WCF. I spied a couple of them on ebay sometime back, ID'd by the left hand thread. Sold the better of the two.

I had someone give me one of those! I already bought a full length stock to cut down for it, but hate to. Barrel is like new! Fellow told me his dad paid $10 for the barreled action back in the 60s. Funny a couple of them being close to each...

Gee, don't trample me getting to my post! FYI, I'm talking cast at around 2500fps, maybe more. The secret, slow powders and a 27BHN alloy that isn't brittle. Evaluating terminal performance of both the solid and hollowpoint will have to wait...

Joe's die works on the 311365 that I have too. I just happen to have a few of them around. Reduces the ogive to .299", tapering to .304" just above the cleaning groove, and the top band to .3075". I finish size the lower bands to .308" since I...

I think he bought a reamer with the proper taper, after making a few by hand. But then we lost him. I don't have to squeeze down the diameter of the whole nose, just the tapered portion above the upper band, maybe some of the upper band too. That...

Yep, I have to bump the nose down on mine with a die Smokem Joe made for me. It depends on the individual rifle's throat. I got one of those tight bored ones, .294" bore, .3055" groove. Joe originally made the die for me to bump the nose on a...

I don't want to count them, it will be admitting the problem. At least a half dozen 55's, at least three B&M's, various vintage, "some" Lee's, and a ChargeMaster. Good intentions of handing them down got a little out of control,,,,,

Yea that Captech brass is good stuff! Comes a little long to the shoulder and you can fit it to your rifle before the first firing! I simply used the rifle to push the shoulder back on the 100 I bought.
