7mm I just pulled out a old .50-90 range book with the only time I had a MVA series 3000 scope with the creedmoor mounts on that rifle using a swiss 1.F load of 101 grains with a 1250 fps avg with a ES of 11.2 and SD 4. using a Brooks 718 gr...

Work towards accuracy not velocity. With the .50 you will find 1280 fps will make that 1000 yard iron ring loud and clear most likely better than 1350. The big .50 gets a lot of falls rep for accuracy and it is because the shooter can't control the...

7 I can't help you much with ballistics for the small bullet you're using. I just use three in mine and they are all 1.5" long. Two are identical GG I had Steve Brooks make with the creedmoor ogive and one is a hollow point to keep the length but...

Well you went through some good trials patching over bore diameter. One more question. That reamer you used did it have any sort of freebore past .050"? if so you went in the right direction trying a over bore diameter bullet. Most generally excess...

BR, GM barrels tend to have deep grooves, even with .004" deep grooves .0015" thick paper is on the thin side that will have a tendency to lead build up on the land edges after a few shots fired. Patch the bullet at least as deep as the grooves.

7mm. You don't give us much info with the bullet, diameter/unpatched/patched/length/paper plus wads/how it was seated in the case to give you much help......Kurt

CG, Teflon is so thin especially when you wrap it, it gets thinner and two wraps will just give you problems with lead smears because the patch will be thinner then the groove is deep. When wrapping you need several wraps to overcome this and the...

Being a plumber at one time I had a lot of teflon tape in the putty wagon and I wrapped some bullets with it, this was around 2000 or maybe in the 90's and I found a lot of lead in the bore. I made a post on the old shooters or maybe GBO and...

Arnie I would think just a square follower if the spring is in close diameter, it can bend a little or use a couple light springs.

ACE HDW has a selection of springs, just get a couple light springs and stretch them. Some high pressure hoses or vacuum cleaner hoses have springs in them that strip out easy. Springs are easy to make from other wire springs.

I loose some patches at just about at every match too. I have a 4' long square 3" tube I been saving to make a square patch popper but I just haven't worked up the ambition to make it, too many other projects going on.

That's what I use Arnie but I use the tubs that have a hinge lid. I just reach under the lid and let it drop. This also helps the wet once from drying out in the wind.

I just looked what we had for weather over night and it said a -14 and right now it's up to -4. I piled up some snow with the 6' snow blower the other day to test the new alloy mix I just made for the upcoming match season and shot 30 rounds with...

Rob, Here are the last two reamers I used for the CPA .45-90 and .40-65 both chambers are very tight designed only for a PP bullet that will fit a case mouth of the unsized case. I can't seat a bullet that is .003" over bore diameter in the fired...

Don't worry about staying under 1100 fps to reach a mile. If I can hit a full sized iron Buffalo several times after finding the sight setting and hold off at 1585 yards in a good breeze using my .44-77 with Lawrence barrel sights that does not have...
