RCBS 35-200-FN. Accurate and deadly. Casts well.

In my experience the Parker-Hale Volunteer shoots better with no wad or card. Just powder and the lubricated bullet.

The main disadvantage is they are harder to clean. The advantage is faster ignition. People argue about both, just like bevel up/bevel down or 9mm/45.

Note also that you do not have to size all of the neck. If you size as little as 1/16 inch of the neck, that is plenty to hold the bullet and provide sufficient tension for satisfactory ignition.

Hi Joe, You're playing with us now. You can't achieve 21,000 fps with chemical propellants. You need one of these: https://www.onr.navy.mil/media-center/fact-sheets/electromagnetic-railgun.aspx On the other hand, 1800 - 2100 fps is easy...

That range of speed (1800 - 21,000 fps) is pretty broad. Can you narrow it down a bit? :-) Seriously though, the bullets in the photo indicate to me that your mold isn't hot enough. If you cast a bit faster, until your bullets mildly frost, I...

Cool fellows. May I ask a follow-up question? In the spirit of making many bullets fast, what is your favorite method of pan lubing?

How does the Magma Master Caster manually operated machine with two-cavity H&G # 68 mold compare in production rate to an experienced caster using a six-cavity Lee 452-200-SWC mold?

No, 0.452" bullets are correct for a 458 ML barrel.

Exactly. I just finished a flintlock rifle with a Green Mountain 45-70 barrel. It loads and shoots well with 0.452" bullets (Lyman 451-114).

An old-time favorite is paper from a jug hornet nest. Look for a stump that has hatched, as a full nest is occupied and dangerous. This paper is also excellent in black powder shotguns. Either gun, just wad up a pinch and stuff it on top of the...

The only reason I've yet to try a Lee is because the action allows too much case stretching. But then, I've not observed it with my own two eyes, so I ask you: how long do cases last in this platform?

There are rifles other than the Model 71, but they are rare. Mine is a single shot. The 348 Winchester is an excellent cast bullet cartridge, having a long neck. The large rim makes it an excellent single shot cartridge as well.

Hi Henry, I too have had problems seating primers on a Dillon; in my case it was an XL 650. This is most likely because the first attempt at seating deformed the primer. They become expanded under pressure. I was loading 44 Rem Mag and...
