I haven't found there to be that much difference between mag and regular small pistol and mag and regular rifle. On the other hand, I shoot Red Dot powder in several of my light rifle loads (222, 223, 270, and 308) and I get more complete...

No fresh air at 4,000 feet in the Olympic Mtns but on the way up my Contender 45/410 made meat with a huge old blue grouse. The meat was a little tough from the old bird but it was certainly tasty. This morning I looked into one of the Oregon...

No fires close to us (yet) but we are getting smoke from the Oregon and California fires blowing around from the ocean. Visibility here is about half a mile and breathing is nasty. The smoke is being held at lower elevation so I may head up...

I am currently shooting the NOE 360-182-WF in the plain base version (not shown on the NOE site) in both a 357 mag rifle and revolver. I doubt you would find a better looking hunting boolit and the hollow point probably isn't necessary. It is...

No need if the Three Gorges Dam goes. The epic flooding on the Yangtze River has the dam under serious pressure this summer. If the dam goes, the flood downstream will take 80% of the Chinese economy with it along with the CCP. The city of Wuhan...

If I was closer to you, I would dowse it for you. I have done it many times for neighbors and even couple historical societies. Don't know why but it works. I use bent copper wire from Home Depot.

I have been hunting with my 45 ML rifle and PRB for 30+ years. My general rule has been the longest range that round ball will still be going 900 fps on impact. I have had more than one deer do a somersault after being hit with a 445 round ball...

quilbilly replied to a thread Pyro 2f? in Muzzleloading.
Pyrodex sucks moisture out of the air much worse than Goex 3F which I have used for 30+ years. It works fine in a desert climate but not in the Northwest. Ozark Mike explains what happens above in addition to regular misfires after only a short...

quilbilly replied to a thread shot hardness in Cast Boolits
Usually includes some arsenic as well. The above table surprises me. I have found it to be too hard for most of my uses so I use it to alloy with pure lead to make excellent rifle boolits (pistol bolts as well). My favorite rifle alloy is 60%...

He had hopes to get to NCBS this year but not only is he a DI but he has a young family. He probably doesn't have enough hours in the day. If memory serves, he has about five years to go to being able to retire from the Marines if he wants to so...

Just below this thread is another thread about a good size black bear killed with a 45 Colt completely with damage pictures. Unless you are hunting large dangerous game or shooting at long range, is it really necessary to have that soft lead...

I just bought 90# of absolutely clean, pure, sheet lead for $1 per pound at a recycler. The fact that it is clean and ready to alloy for whatever purpose will little dross makes it worth every penney.

There is quite a difference in sound if you drop hardball and soft ingots on concrete. You probably don't have to mark those. It is the moderate hard ingots that need to get marked.

It's good to know they don't support the older Chrony's. I have the green box one that has served me well so I better be careful of it. Thanks for the information!

Around here plenty of large rifle primers are available but no other sizes. I haven't seen a small pistol or small rifle primer on a store shelf for a couple months.

RE-7 would be my choice followed by 3031. 5744 and 2400 are better than 3031 but can be very difficult to find.

I have been hunting with a 50 cal muzzleloader for over 30 years. You will be just fine with a 325 gr boolit at that mv if you keep the range under 75 yards and a bear 450# or less ( any bigger and you should start looking for the perfect shot).
